Sōzoku Shita Sofu no Ie no Urayama ni Danjon ga Dekimashita - Chapter 139

Chapter : Exploring the Eighth Underground Floor of the Dungeon (Part 1)

“Um… Bach-san, did you and the others already finish exploring the eighth floor?” I asked Bach.

“No. We would never think of robbing Misuzu-sama and Takumi-sama of such enjoyment.”

“We have not done any exploring ourselves, so please rest assured.”

“We shall simply follow after Misuzu-sama. Please feel free to explore wherever you like.” Bach bowed as he spoke.

“In that case, I was thinking we should do it the same way as always… is that alright?” I turned to Misuzu-san.

“I’ll just follow after you, Takumi-san, so you can decide where to go!”

With Misuzu-san’s approval, we decided to explore as usual.

I asked the spirits to scout ahead, and they all flew off at once.

In the meantime, I spread out the dungeon map to check the layout.

“…Huh?”

“Takumi-san, what is it?”

“Look here! There’s a small island in the middle of this pond, and it looks like there’s still an unopened treasure chest there!”

“A treasure chest! Takumi-san, let’s go open it!”

Seeing Misuzu-san’s excitement was enough to make me happy too.

“But look—there are lots of giant crocodile monsters guarding it. The map even has a warning note.”

“Hmph… if it comes to it, we can just summon Kuromitsu-chan and have her burn them down with her breath!”

Misuzu-san’s enthusiasm was reassuring in its own way.

While we were talking, the spirits began returning.

They gathered in the air above us, holding some kind of meeting.

Once it was over, they all pointed in the same direction.

“Misuzu-san, the spirits are ready to guide us. Let’s get moving!”

“Yeah! Let’s hurry and grab that treasure chest!”

Misuzu-san was in high spirits.

The spirits gestured for us to take to the skies.

It seemed the destination was a bit farther from here.

“Misuzu-san, the spirits say it’s a little far, so we should fly.”

“Got it! Then I’ll summon Kuromitsu-chan!”

With that, Misuzu-san summoned Kuromitsu.

I sat up front, Misuzu-san behind me.

Snow sat between us, while Shiratama stayed snug inside Misuzu-san’s bag.

Kuromitsu rose gently into the air, following after the spirits.

Wait… what about Bach and the others?

When I looked back, Bach, Aria, and Dvořák were flying through the air on their own.

Meeting my gaze, Bach said, “We can use flight magic, so there’s no need to worry about us.”

I glanced downward.

There, Bunin and the knights were galloping along on horseback.

“Huh? Horses? Where did those come from?” I muttered, and Misuzu-san also exclaimed, “You’re right, they’re riding horses!”

Bach explained, “They must have summoned horse-type golems.”

So that’s how it is. I never knew they had that ability.

After flying for a while, a massive lake came into view.

This wasn’t the level of a pond—it was a full-blown lake.

The water was murky, its depths impossible to see.

And there, in the middle, was a small island.

Kuromitsu landed near the lake.

At the center of the island, a slight rise in the ground revealed a treasure chest.

“Look, Takumi-san! There’s the chest!” Misuzu-san said, eyes fixed on it.

If only the island were larger—Kuromitsu could have landed there. What a shame.

Before long, Bunin and the knights arrived as well.

When Misuzu-san and I tried to approach the lake, Bach and the knights stopped us.

“Can you see the crocodile eyes peeking above the water?” Bach pointed out.

Looking closely, I could indeed spot eyes drifting here and there in the lake.

“Most likely, those crocodile monsters are guarding the treasure chest.”

“If we get any closer, they’ll surely attack.”

Sure enough, I could see several crocodiles sunbathing on the island itself, right next to the chest.

I could probably use Anemone’s wind magic to fly to the island and dash to the chest.

But… if I did that, it would ruin the fun for Misuzu-san, who was looking forward to opening it herself.

Now then… what should we do?
