Chapter : Takeya’s Mother and Younger Sister Visit Again (2)
The next morning, I went through my usual routine.
I had the dungeon entrance in the back mountain opened.
Today, I decided to be the one to defeat the slimes.
I pulled a sword out of the storage pouch I’d received from Bach.
I poured magic power into the blade.
This too was something I’d gained when I was granted the Hero Job.
Somehow, I just understood how to use magic.
Flames appeared along the surface of the sword.
I swung the blade at a slime.
Thanks to my swordsmanship skill, I hit the slime’s magic stone in a single strike.
Next, I decided to try out a flaming slash.
Bach had told me that image was important in magic.
So, as I swung my sword, I imagined flames flying out as a slash and cutting down the slime.
Just as I pictured, a flaming slash shot out, and I was able to defeat the slime.
I used the flaming slash to take down the rest of the slimes as well.
Once the extermination was complete, Amber sealed off the entrance again.
I went back home and ate the breakfast Mother had made.
After that, since someone from the construction company came, Mother and Mizuho went off for the remodeling meeting.
Left with nothing to do, I killed time in the yard by swinging my sword.
After that, I practiced magic.
They said image was important.
First, I imagined my index finger as a candle.
When I pictured a flame flickering at the tip of the candle, fire appeared at the tip of my finger.
Was it because it was my own magic power?
It didn’t feel hot.
Next, I tried wind.
A small whirlwind formed at the tip of my finger.
Like that, I went through the basic spells one by one.
The spirits were watching me practice.
Clap clap!
Every time I succeeded, the spirits clapped for me, and it made me happy.
As expected, being praised made me more motivated.
While I was practicing magic, I saw the construction company’s car drive off.
It seemed the remodeling meeting was finished.
I spotted Mother and the others walking toward the house.
“Takeya. Your field looks so tidy, did you weed it yourself?”
There’s no way I did that myself.
When I explained that I borrowed the spirits’ power, she replied, “Then from next spring, I’ll leave it to them!”
“I’ll plant vegetables, and maybe even rice paddies too! If the spirits are lending their power, then it’s no problem at all!”
It looked like my spirits had been drafted into helping out.
When I glanced at them, they nodded in agreement.
If the spirits were fine with it, then I guess it’s fine?
“I’m going to run a countryside café using vegetables and rice we grow ourselves. Ah, the dream just keeps expanding~!”
Well, as long as Mother was having fun, that was all that mattered.
She came from a farming family, so maybe her farming blood was stirring?
Later, I got into Mother’s kei car, and we met up with the Nakamori family at a restaurant.
After we all finished lunch together, Mother and my little sister went back.
They said they’d return the rental car at the station.
They also mentioned they’d come again over the weekend to check on the remodeling progress.
…Will they actually contact me properly?
