Sōzoku Shita Sofu no Ie no Urayama ni Danjon ga Dekimashita - Chapter 136

Chapter : Takaya’s Mother and Little Sister Visit Again (Part 1)

I woke up early in the morning and went through my usual routine.

I headed to the back mountain dungeon and had Amber open the entrance for me.

Among my contracted spirits, the only one still a lower spirit was Dahlia, so I asked her to handle the slime subjugation.

Slimes probably don’t give much experience, but, well—every little bit counts.

Once the subjugation was done, Amber sealed the entrance again.

When I went to the vegetable garden, Anemone had already finished the weeding with blades of wind and neatly gathered the cut grass into a pile using wind magic.

Then Lupinus drew the water out of the grass with magic, drying it completely.

Dahlia burned it with fire magic, reducing it to ash.

And just like that, fertilizer was ready.

Next, Amber mixed the ash into the soil with earth magic.

Since it was winter, nothing was planted in the fields.

In spring, I plan to plant vegetables again, so hopefully the soil will be rich with nutrients by then.

I returned to the house and opened all the windows.

Anemone blew the dust outside with wind magic.

Then Freesia activated her Clean spell with light magic.

With that, the house was spotless.

When I picked up a small pot, Lupinus filled it with water using magic.

I set up some bricks I had bought from the home improvement store in a U-shape and placed the pot on top.

Dahlia heated the water with fire magic.

While I waited, I placed some sandwiches I’d bought from the supermarket on the table and took teacups out from the cupboard.

I set tea bags into the cups.

When the water boiled, I poured it into the cups.

After removing the bags, I added only milk, completing the milk tea.

That was breakfast.

Normally, I’d be eating at the Nakamori family’s house, but according to Misuzu-san, my mother and younger sister are coming today.

Strangely enough, I hadn’t been told anything about it, even though I’m their son.

When I texted my sister Mizuho last night, she said, “Eh? I didn’t tell you? I totally thought Mom had already said something~.”

Apparently, they plan to shop at the supermarket, eat lunch at my house, and then head to the bank.

…So bored…

I pulled a sword out of my pouch.

It was the drop from the dungeon’s hidden boss, the Dullahan.

The holy sword was still in the dungeon’s Sky Castle.

Since it didn’t have a scabbard, I’d left it there—too dangerous to carry around.

Also, Misuzu-san and I had each received a storage pouch from Bach.

They were waist-pouch types, without time-stopping ability, but they could hold up to 80 kilograms. Pretty incredible.

Bach said he would take the sword to a master craftsman in another dimension to have a scabbard made.

Apparently it was a space humans couldn’t enter.

He also said he’d use some of Kuromitsu’s scales as material for the scabbard.

I practiced swordsmanship, swinging my flame sword.

When I had been granted the Hero Job, I’d gained swordsmanship skills.

Because of that, my body seemed to move on its own, as if it already knew how to handle the sword.

It was truly strange.

As I was practicing in the yard, a small car pulled up.

The license plate had a “wa” on it—it looked like a rental.

As I watched, my mother and Mizuho stepped out.

When did Mom get her license?

“Mom! Did you get your license?”

“I got it when I was young! I hadn’t driven in decades, so I went back to driving school and took the refresher course for paper drivers.”

“After all, living in the countryside would be inconvenient without a car!”

“…I see.”

“Now then, let’s get lunch ready. We need to head to the bank this afternoon.”

“Um… are you really moving in next door?”

“What are you saying! I told you that last time we came, didn’t I?”

“Big bro, are you getting forgetful?”

“Don’t be rude! I just didn’t think you were actually moving!”

Mom and Mizuho went inside my house and began preparing lunch.

We talked as we ate.

“We’re using part of your father’s insurance payout and retirement bonus to buy the house next to yours, Takaya.”

“As for the Tokyo house, Mr. Takeyama next door said he wanted it, so we’re selling it to him!”

“The Takeyama family has two sons, right? They said they wanted to avoid inheritance troubles later.”

“The eldest still lives at home and hasn’t married yet, but the younger one’s getting married next year. So, when we move here in the spring, the younger son will move into our old house.”

Our Tokyo home was one of those prefab houses built on a small lot.

Several similar houses were built on plots of roughly the same size.

With only about 30 tsubo of land, you can’t really split it in half.

You can’t build a proper house on just 15 tsubo.

So when it comes to inheritance, selling the property and splitting the money is the only option.

According to Mom, they’ll sell the Tokyo house next spring and move here.

In the meantime, they’ll renovate the smaller, relatively new house next door so they can move in during winter break.

Tomorrow morning, the contractor will be coming to discuss renovations.

And tomorrow for lunch, we’re apparently eating at a restaurant together with the Nakamori family before returning the rental car and heading back to Tokyo by train.

…I hadn’t heard a single word about eating with the Nakamori family!

When I pointed that out to Mom, she just said, “Didn’t I mention it?”

The big old farmhouse, they’ll renovate after moving here.

Apparently, Mom is really serious about opening a country-style restaurant.

And Mizuho will be in her third year of junior high next year.

She plans to take the entrance exam for the same prefectural high school I attend.

In the end… it looks like the whole family will be gathering here after all.
