Chapter : Summoning the Angels Once More
Right now, the staff were busy filming my room inside the Sky Castle.
The Branch Manager stepped out onto the balcony, gazing at the view as he let out a sigh.
“There’s just so much to report this time… the paperwork alone will take days,” he muttered.
Once the filming of my room was finished, this investigation would finally be over.
Misuzu-san came into my room.
“Takaya-san, are you done sorting your things?”
“Yeah, I just finished.”
The luggage the Branch Manager had been carrying in his backpack was laid out on the table for me, and I had neatly stored everything away into the room’s storage spaces by item.
“In that case, let’s take a break!”
Saying so, Misuzu-san started preparing tea.
That was when an idea struck me.
Wouldn’t it be better to ask the butler and maids to do it?
I remembered a scene from an anime—where the butler checked his pocket watch for the proper steeping time while brewing tea.
Besides, didn’t Butler Bach once say, “If you have any requests, please leave them to me”?
“Misuzu-san, why not try asking the butler and maids?”
“…Do you think it’ll be alright?”
“If it doesn’t work out, you can just cancel the summoning. And besides, I’m sure they’d like to be useful to you.”
“…Okay. I’ll give it a try.”
From her pouch, Misuzu-san took out a summoning card.
Holding it in her right hand, she declared, “Summon.”
The card dissolved into glowing particles.
Light gathered before her, and when it settled, four angels stood there.
Bach stepped forward. “You called for us, Misuzu-sama?”
Misuzu-san asked hesitantly, “We wanted to take a break… could you prepare some tea for us?”
“Of course, it would be our pleasure.”
At that, a black, cloud-like space appeared before Aria.
She reached into the dark void and pulled out a tablecloth.
We all froze on the spot.
…What just happened?
As I tried to process it, Bach asked, “Is this the first time you have seen spatial magic?”
We all nodded together.
“I see. We can store items within a pocket dimension.”
To demonstrate, Bach reached into another cloudlike space and drew out a teapot and teacups.
Then the chef, Tchaikovsky, asked, “May I inspect the kitchen facilities?”
I explained, “This castle is ruled by a higher wind spirit. Misuzu-san and I are only borrowing this floor.”
“In that case, we must properly greet the spirit. Once I serve tea, I will go and pay my respects,” Bach said with a bow.
We sipped the tea he had brewed.
…Mm.
The aroma was delightful, and the taste was excellent.
Aria stood quietly behind Misuzu-san, while the other three angels said, “We shall now go and greet the spirits. If you need anything, please ask Aria.”
They left the room.
After a short while, they returned.
“Misuzu-sama,” Bach reported, “we have spoken with the spirits. They granted us permission to use the spaces they do not occupy.”
“In return, should the castle ever come under attack, we are to assist in its defense.”
“Also, to ensure Misuzu-sama may always live in comfort, we would like to hunt monsters within the dungeon, sell the materials, and use the proceeds to procure supplies. Would you grant us this permission?”
Misuzu-san looked at me.
I gave a firm nod.
“…Very well. I grant permission,” she replied.
I added some clarification.
“The shallow floors of the dungeon are used by rookie explorers for training, so please don’t overhunt there. Also, on the third floor underground, there’s a lake ruled by a water spirit. We regularly collect the magic stones from monsters it defeats. Those stones are sold to the Explorers’ Guild. If you’d like, you can use the proceeds from those sales too.”
“Understood. We will raise funds in a way that does not trouble other explorers,” Bach agreed.
Hearing this, the Branch Manager said he would prepare explorer cards for them.
It would be the first time he issued cards to non-humans, but… there was no regulation saying it couldn’t be done.
So, it should be fine.
Probably.
As long as no one found out.
They certainly didn’t look like monsters.
No matter how you looked at them, they only seemed human…
Muttering to himself, the Branch Manager grumbled under his breath.
