Takuya and Misuzu Come Into a Large Sum of Money
We descended from the Sky Castle to the ground and headed toward the dungeon exit.
As we left the dungeon, the clerk said, “The branch manager is calling you.”
We had just spoken to the manager earlier, so I wondered if something had come up.
We went to the branch manager’s office.
“Takuya, Misuzu, sorry to bother you again. We received news that the magic staff and the lich’s magic stone you had entrusted us were sold at today’s auction,” the manager said. “Since you were in the dungeon, I thought I’d report it to you in person.”
I checked the Sunrise party’s funds.
To my surprise, it had grown to about 38 million yen!
After taxes and auction fees were deducted, the remaining amount was deposited into our party funds.
Misuzu and I were stunned by the large sum, so we asked the manager how it happened.
According to him, two investors competed to win the auction for the magic staff, which drove up the price.
“Why investors?” I asked.
The manager explained, “The investors who obtained the staff lease it to explorers and collect lease fees. Insect-type and plant-type monsters are often weak to fire magic. When explorer parties defeat dungeon floor bosses, they borrow staffs from investors to boost their firepower.”
He also said some retired explorers who got injured rent out their weapons and equipment as a way to support their living expenses.
I see, that’s an interesting approach.
Next time I get items from treasure chests, leasing instead of selling might be a good idea.
The slime magic stones from the backyard dungeon, the fish magic stones from the lake on the third basement floor...
If we lease those items, we might not have to worry about living expenses.
Unused items can be stored in our room in the Sky Castle.
It’s a good idea since it has guards from the wind spirits.
I’ll discuss it with Misuzu later.
I looked at Misuzu sitting beside me.
She murmured softly to herself, “The wedding, the reception… the honeymoon… and then…”
“Misuzu!” I called her.
She seemed to come back to reality.
“Takuya! We’ll have to rebuild the house someday, and with education expenses and everything, we need to save even more money!” she said excitedly.
I was overwhelmed by her energy and nodded silently.
We decided to wait for Kenta and the others in the cafeteria on the second floor.
Misuzu walked happily beside me, humming a tune.
Later, we safely reunited with Kenta and the others.
