Sōzoku Shita Sofu no Ie no Urayama ni Danjon ga Dekimashita - Chapter 104

Goblin Extermination Operation — Part 1

Misuzu, Kenta, and I—along with Kenta’s party—arrived at the Adventurers’ Guild in the early evening.

The mission this time? A guild-issued extermination request: a full-scale assault on goblins.

Because some adventurers return from the dungeon late at night, the guild has a hotel attached to its branch. We were each given a private room there to prepare.

Once we’d dropped off our gear, everyone involved in the mission gathered in one of the guild’s conference rooms.

As soon as all the participating parties had arrived, the branch manager began his briefing.

“Thank you all for coming today,” he said, standing at the front of the room. “As you’ve already heard, tonight’s operation is a goblin extermination.”

He scanned the room, his voice growing more serious.

“You’ll be heading out just after midnight. The plan is to arrive at your assigned goblin nests just before dawn—before they emerge and begin moving for the day. Once you’ve completely wiped out your designated nest, return immediately.”

“Any questions?” he asked, looking around.

But no one raised a hand. Silence.

With a small nod, the branch manager moved on. “Here are the locations of each nest.”

There were ten goblin nests in total—five on the right side of the dungeon and five on the left.

Each of the five right-side nests was assigned to a different party.

And for some reason, all five nests on the left side… were assigned to us—Team Sunrise.

The branch manager turned to me directly. “You're an A-rank party. You can handle it, right?”

Wait—what?

No one objected. No one even looked surprised. It was as if they had all silently agreed to this from the start.

“Well then,” the branch manager said with a clap of his hands. “I’m counting on you.”

And just like that, the briefing was over.

All participating parties were to gather at the dungeon entrance at 3 a.m. We’d then make our way together to the goblin-infested fourth floor.

As we walked, I turned to Misuzu and laid out our plan.

“Misuzu-san, I want you to take position in front of the far-left nest. I’ll have Snow take care of any goblins that come out from there.”

Misuzu tilted her head. “What about the other four nests?”

“I’ve got five spirits under contract now. I’ll assign one to each of the remaining four nests and have them eliminate the goblins on their own,” I explained.

She seemed satisfied with that.

We reached the fourth floor, and the parties split off toward their assigned areas.

Before parting ways, I crouched beside Snow and said, “Take care of Misuzu-san, okay?”

“Woof!” Snow barked in response, tail wagging confidently.

Leaving her behind, I headed toward the rightmost nest with two of my lesser spirits.

The plan was simple: I would take Lupinus and Amber—my two lower-ranked spirits—and personally handle the far-right nest with them. The remaining three nests would each be guarded by a mid-rank spirit. I instructed those three to erect magical barriers and hold the goblins inside their dens until I could arrive.

Once I gave the order, the spirits swiftly soared toward their designated locations.

I stayed with Lupinus and Amber, watching the entrance to the rightmost nest from a slight distance, hidden in the shadows.

Gradually, the dungeon began to brighten with the approaching dawn.

Eventually, a single goblin peeked out from the nest and glanced around, checking for danger.

Then it growled—“Gaaah!”

That was the signal.

Goblins began pouring out of the nest, one after another.

“All right, go!” I commanded.

At my signal, blades of water shot down from above, slicing through the goblins with precision. Spikes of stone erupted from the ground beneath them, impaling the remaining ones.

Within mere minutes, the battle was over.

Just to be safe, I turned to Amber. “Any goblins still inside the nest?”

Amber shook her head side to side.

None remained.
