Chapter : The Resurrection of Sylphiel
Sylphiel leapt down from the dragon’s back and stood before me.
“Sylphiel-san, are you alright?”
“I used Corinne’s healing magic and the finest healing potion. I’m about 70% recovered,” she replied.
Sylphiel leaned her face close to mine.
“So, where’s that demon?”
“He’s over there, fighting Kinako right now.”
I pointed to the north.
“Be careful—Daglud is wearing armor that boosts his physical abilities.”
“Be careful, huh? I’ve really fallen if an E-rank adventurer like you is worrying about me,” Sylphiel said with a shrug.
“Just so you know, getting caught in that puppet’s self-destruct attack was a once-in-a-century slip-up.”
“I know. I never doubted your strength, Sylphiel-san.”
“...I-I see. As long as you understand.”
Sylphiel looked at me with her emerald eyes.
“Well then, I’ll go kill that demon. You should stay hidden somewhere.”
With that, she dashed off toward the north.
I turned my gaze to Arumine and the others still fighting the skeleton soldiers. Corinne was at Arumine’s side, and there were more members from the Moonlight Brigade now.
So they came with Sylphiel. In that case, I’ll go after Daglud. Maybe I can support Kinako and Sylphiel.
I gripped my demon-eating dagger tightly and followed Sylphiel.
Kinako and Daglud were fighting inside the roofless temple.
Kinako was bleeding from his left arm, and his dark green pants were torn.
Sylphiel stepped forward, shielding Kinako.
“Huh? You’re still alive?” Daglud said, visibly surprised.
“Of course. Like I’d die from something as weak as that self-destruct attack.”
Sylphiel pointed the Twin-Headed Light King’s Blade at Daglud.
“I’ll show you what I’m really capable of. Kinako, you can rest now.”
“Don’t be ridiculous.”
Kinako stepped up beside Sylphiel.
“I may be out of booze, but I can still fight.”
“You don’t have to push yourself. I can win this on my own.”
“Then let both of you come at me!”
Daglud shouted.
“I’ll show you the difference in our power!”
A golden sword materialized, and Daglud grabbed it.
“Die and regret ever opposing me!”
“That's my line.”
Sylphiel charged Daglud, her twin-tails swaying behind her.
She stepped forward with her left leg and swung the Twin-Headed Light King’s Blade upward from below.
Daglud blocked the attack with his golden sword.
The two weapons clashed with a high-pitched metallic ring.
“Not a bad weapon...” Daglud said.
He spun his body halfway while swinging his sword, then aimed a kick. Sylphiel narrowly dodged it.
“Get back, Sylphiel!”
Kinako crept in close, nearly crawling along the ground, and struck with his paw. Daglud stepped back with his left leg to dodge and brought his golden sword down in a slash. Sylphiel blocked it with her blade.
“Then take this!”
Daglud aimed his left hand at Sylphiel. Five bluish-white beams shot out. Sylphiel bent her knees deeply to dodge the beams.
“Lend me your shoulder!”
Kinako leapt onto Sylphiel’s shoulder and sprang high into the air.
While twisting midair, he aimed his long claws at Daglud’s neck.
Daglud kicked off the ground hard with his left foot, dodging behind Kinako.
“Die, beastkin!”
With that shout, Daglud thrust his golden sword.
Kinako caught the golden blade between his paw pads.
“Kinako! Hold that sword right there!”
Sylphiel dropped to one knee and swung the Twin-Headed Light King’s Blade horizontally.
Daglud released his grip on the sword and leapt back to create distance.
