Sōzoku Shita Sofu no Ie no Urayama ni Danjon ga Dekimashita - Chapter 32

Nakamori-san’s JOB is Tamer – Part 1

After leaving the branch chief’s office, I sent a message to Kenta.

They told me the dungeon had no signal inside, but as soon as I got out, I should check my messages. If I was heading back early, I was supposed to let them know.

I transferred trains and buses and headed toward Nakamori-san’s house.

Since I rode my bike to Nakamori-san’s place in the morning and then took Kenta’s car to the dungeon, my bike was still parked at her house.

When I arrived, her mom’s kei car was in the driveway.

Today, Nakamori-san and her mom were out shopping at the mall.

She said she needed new clothes since she couldn’t wear the same outfit to school every day.

I couldn’t just leave quietly, so I rang the doorbell.

Her mom answered and invited me in for some tea.

Nakamori-san soon joined us, and the three of us relaxed over tea.

Then Nakamori-san asked me, “Shiraishi-kun, what are your plans after this?”

I said I had nothing planned.

She replied, “Well then, can I come over to your place with you?”

A beautiful girl wanted to come to my place.

I told her it was just an old house with some fields and a dungeon nearby.

She said she’d still like to visit.

So a beautiful girl was coming over to my place.

The two of us rode my bike back to my house.

“Wow! So this is Shiraishi-kun’s house!”

We sat side by side on the porch drinking tea.

Nakamori-san wanted to see the dungeon, so we headed for the one on the hill behind my house.

I’d cleared out the slimes earlier that morning, so there weren’t any left.

Nakamori-san stepped inside the dungeon.

Then suddenly she stopped and turned toward me.

“I think I got the Tamer JOB.”

We returned to the porch and sat side by side.

I got a good idea.

I took two eggs out of my backpack and handed them to Nakamori-san.

“What’s this? These eggs are huge...”

I explained they were magic beast eggs.

Since I’d just heard about them from the branch chief, I had the explanation down perfectly!

“Only Tamers can hatch these eggs, and they hatch when you give them magic power. What’s born is random, and once it hatches, the Tamer names it and makes a contract.”

Just like the branch chief had said.

“But can I really have these?”

Since private sales are prohibited, if someone paid me money I’d get in trouble.

So I said, “I’m giving them to you to raise.”

I explained I was a spirit user, so I couldn’t raise or contract with them, and successfully passed the responsibility to Nakamori-san.

Hehe.

Since she’d treated me to dinner yesterday, Kenta had given me a ride to the dungeon, and Nakamori-san had talked to me even though I was a loner, I felt like I was able to repay them a little.

Nakamori-san put the two eggs in her bike basket and headed home.

The next morning, after slaying slimes in the hill dungeon and about to eat breakfast, my phone rang.

It was Nakamori-san.

I wondered if something had happened.

We’d exchanged contact info, so I was happy.

“Shiraishi-kun, something serious happened! You have to come over immediately!”

She sounded really flustered.

I hurried over to her house.

When I arrived and stepped inside, Nakamori-san was holding a white, round, rabbit-like creature.

It had horns growing from its head and a jewel-like thing on its forehead.

“Who’s this?”

I asked.

“This hatched from the egg yesterday. I named it Shiratama.”

She said.

It was so cute.

So fluffy.

“Is it okay if I touch it?”

I asked.

“Shiratama, this is Shiraishi-kun! Is it okay if he touches you?”

Shiratama came up to me and licked my hand.

I pet Shiratama.

“Wow! This texture is amazing!”

I hadn’t expected it to hatch overnight — I was totally surprised.
