C-Rank Dungeon – B2F (Part 2)
After retrieving the egg from the treasure chest, I jumped down toward the ground.
Anemone used her wind magic to gently lower me.
Once I landed, I began walking again—this time toward the tunnel that led down to B3.
Just before reaching it, Anemone pointed at the right-side wall.
I turned and walked in that direction.
Once we reached the wall, she pointed upward again.
There’s something up there too...?
I jumped again.
Just like before, my body floated upward, carried by Anemone’s wind magic.
At the top of the wall, I found another tunnel.
I followed after Anemone.
Inside the tunnel, it was pitch black.
I couldn’t see a thing.
Then, Freesia conjured glowing orbs of light.
Three in total.
The orbs lined up horizontally, floating just ahead of me.
As I moved forward, the orbs moved too—keeping a consistent distance.
As I progressed through the tunnel, ghost-like figures began emerging from the darkness and rushing at me.
But when they got close to the glowing orbs Freesia created, they disintegrated into particles of light one by one.
Each time, a magic stone dropped to the ground with a soft clink.
Hmm… if they leave behind magic stones, maybe they’re not ghosts?
Monsters, then?
I started moving again.
Then Anemone stopped me.
Apparently, there were traps in the center and left side of the path.
I followed along the right-hand wall instead.
Anemone gestured for me not to touch the wall.
Seems like there were traps there too.
We proceeded with caution.
Those ghost-things kept appearing, then vanishing into light while leaving magic stones behind.
Eventually, we reached a pair of large double doors.
Viola pointed beside the door.
Looked like she’d gathered up the dropped magic stones using her shadow magic.
I placed the stones into my backpack.
Then I stepped in front of the doors.
"Alright... let’s go."
I opened them.
There was nothing inside at first.
But as I walked deeper in, a large magic circle appeared—and from it, another ghost emerged.
This one had no legs, wielded a staff in its bony hands, wore a robe over its skull face—
A boss ghost?
Just as I thought that, Freesia flew forward and touched its shoulder.
The ghost let out a shrill shriek—"Gyaaaah!"—and vanished in a shower of light particles.
《Light Lower Spirit Freesia has evolved into a Light Mid Spirit》
A mechanical female voice echoed in my mind.
"Ooh! Freesia, congrats on evolving!"
I said, and Freesia danced happily in the air.
Where the boss ghost had been, there was a large red magic stone and a treasure chest.
So there are red magic stones too, huh...
I put the stone in my backpack.
Anemone went to check the treasure chest.
Then suddenly, she slashed it with a blade of wind.
The lid flew open—revealing sharp fangs growing on the inside.
It was a mimic.
After Anemone’s attack, the mimic disintegrated into light.
Where it vanished, another magic stone appeared—and a new treasure chest.
《Wind Lower Spirit Anemone has evolved into a Wind Mid Spirit》
Again, the same female voice echoed in my head.
Looks like Anemone evolved too.
Both Freesia and Anemone had grown noticeably larger.
Anemone checked the new chest—it seemed fine.
I opened it.
Inside was—again—a white egg.
I took the egg and began retracing my steps back.
Once I returned to the dungeon entrance, I went to meet with the branch chief.
He had told me: “If anything unusual happens, report it immediately.”
