C-Rank Dungeon – B2F (Part 1)
After finishing my usual morning slime hunt, I ate breakfast and biked over to the Nakamori house.
Despite his serious injury yesterday, Kentaro-san was planning to dive into the dungeon again today.
The other party members looked just as fired up.
"If you're heading to the dungeon too, hop in. We'll give you a ride," Kentaro-san offered, and I gratefully accepted.
Once we arrived at the dungeon, we split up.
Kentaro-san’s group rented a locker near the dungeon entrance, where they stored their gear.
He said they always suited up there before entering the dungeon.
Inside the dungeon, there were irregularly placed statues known as Transfer Stones.
By touching one, you could instantly teleport to another stone you had previously registered.
Pretty mysterious stuff...
I made my way alone toward the dungeon gate.
I handed my Explorer Card to the staff member.
"Hey! What’s with that outfit? You’ll get yourself killed dressed like that!" he shouted in concern.
"I’m just scouting the nearby area," I replied.
Though still worried, the staff member opened the gate for me.
Alright—today, let’s try heading down to the second floor!
I started walking.
Anemone took the lead.
Freesia followed behind her.
Viola sat perched on my left shoulder.
We followed the grassy path until we reached the far end, where a tunnel led downward.
When I came out the other side, the terrain changed to a dusty brown wasteland.
A broad road stretched out—must’ve been around 300 meters wide.
The ground was made of reddish-brown soil, with a bit of a sticky, clay-like texture.
On both sides of the road rose high walls, continuing endlessly into the distance.
The walls were the same reddish soil, dotted with small embedded stones.
According to the map, there weren’t supposed to be any monsters on this floor.
Still, just to be safe, I asked Anemone to scout ahead.
With Anemone on recon duty, I took my time strolling down the path.
After a while, Anemone was waiting for me up ahead.
She pointed to the left wall.
Something there...?
I followed her.
When we reached the wall, she pointed upward this time.
"No way… there’s no climbing that thing."
But then, I felt an image from Anemone—jump.
I jumped on the spot.
And suddenly, my body lifted into the air.
Seemed like Anemone was using her wind magic to carry me upward.
At the end, a gust gave me a gentle push on the back.
I landed on top of the high wall.
The surface up here was also reddish-brown soil, dotted with cactus-like plants.
The thorns looked sharp—just brushing against them might tear my pants.
I carefully followed Anemone.
She led me behind a huge rock.
Between two boulders was a narrow gap, which Anemone slipped through.
I turned sideways and crab-walked my way through.
Once we were through, Anemone pointed at the backside of a rock…
There was a statue of a goddess carved into it.
Not a Buddha statue, but a stone goddess?
And at the goddess’s feet sat a treasure chest.
Anemone checked it for traps.
She nodded. Looked like it was safe.
I opened the chest.
Inside was a large, pure white egg.
I carefully lifted the egg out and tucked it into my backpack.
The moment I did, the treasure chest dissolved into particles of light—and vanished.
