Golden Week (Part 4)
I left the cafeteria and headed down to the first floor via the escalator.
But as I approached, things sounded... chaotic.
I could hear shouting—
"Make way!"
"Out of the way, move!"
"Call a doctor!"
A fight? Ugh, not good...
The escalator reached the first floor.
There were bloodied people everywhere, and among them, the one with the most severe injuries was lying on a stretcher.
…His left arm had been severed.
I caught bits of conversation from those around me.
It seemed they had gotten injured in a battle with monsters.
Apparently, the man missing his left arm was the party leader. He got hurt protecting his teammates.
In my mind, I asked Freesia:
Can you heal that kind of injury?
I pictured it clearly—bones, muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and skin.
Freesia nodded firmly.
I took a deep breath and raised my voice.
"Please move aside!"
I ran up beside the stretcher and asked the nearby older man to hold the severed arm while I aligned the bones—matching the stump's exposed bone to the one from the severed arm.
"Freesia, please!"
At that moment, the injured arm began to glow.
When the light faded, I looked again—and the arm had been fully restored, perfectly.
We did it!
I had Freesia heal the other wounded as well.
After finishing treatment for everyone, I sighed in relief—Thank goodness it’s over...
—but then...
The older man who helped hold the arm suddenly grabbed me by the wrist and said,
"Come with me a minute!"
He began dragging me off.
Who... is this guy!?
He took me past the reception counter and into a room further inside.
Turns out, that older man was the branch chief of the Explorer’s Association!
The people I had just helped were actually a promising young party.
If their injuries hadn't been healed, they would've had to retire on the spot, and the party would’ve disbanded.
The branch chief bowed his head and said:
"Thank you."
That reassured me—he didn’t seem like a bad person at all.
"By the way... what was that just now? That light—was that your doing?"
What should I do...
Will he believe me if I talk about spirits?
But if I tell one lie, I’ll just have to keep lying to cover it up.
And those lies will pile up until everything falls apart—and eventually, I’ll be exposed.
Then I’d lose all trust...
So, I decided to be honest.
"It was the power of a light spirit."
Yup.
That’s it.
Explanation complete.
Perfect.
