Golden Week – Part 1

Golden Week had finally begun!

I headed out to sell the slime magic stones I’d collected from the dungeon behind my house.
After switching from train to bus, I eventually arrived at the Explorer’s Guild.

The reception desk was on the left, but I made my way to the buyback counter on the right.
I handed over my explorer’s card and the magic stones to the staff member there.

He immediately started placing the stones on a scale.

“Um… what are you doing?” I asked.

He looked up and explained,
“Magic stones from monsters all contain the same amount of mana per gram. The only difference with stronger monsters is that their stones are bigger, that’s all.”

“Oh, really? I had no idea,” I replied.

Once he was done with the calculations...

Roughly 200,000 yen!

I couldn’t believe it. I’d just made a small fortune.

Apparently, the Explorer’s Card is linked to financial institutions too, so you can even withdraw cash from an ATM.

I deposited 100,000 yen directly into the card and took the remaining 100,000 in cash.
Since I spotted a post office near the station, I decided to send 50,000 yen back home to my family.

Since I’d come all this way, I figured I might as well check out a C-rank dungeon while I was here.

Explorers can get dungeon maps for free—it’s supposed to help improve efficiency in the field.

I picked one up and headed to the dungeon gate.
As I handed over my card to the staff member at the gate, he gave me a puzzled look and said,

“You’re seriously going in dressed like that? This is a dungeon, you know. I’ve been doing this job a while, and I’ve never seen someone try to enter wearing jeans and sneakers.”

“But... the dress code is up to the individual, right?” I replied. “I don’t plan on going far in. Just taking a peek.”

He sighed. “Fine, but whatever happens, it’s your responsibility. You were told that when you got your card, right?”

“Yes, I remember the explanation.”

Satisfied, he returned my card and opened the gate for me.
