In my second year of junior high, I ended up in a different class than Nakamori.
Even though I put in a 5,000-yen offering at New Year’s, praying we’d be in the same class…

My seat was by the window that year.
Whenever she showed up on the field for PE, my eyes would just naturally follow her.
Couldn’t help it.

Third year—again, different class.

Still, I wasn’t giving up.
I managed to find out from one of her friends which high school she was aiming for.

“She’s planning to take the entrance exam for the local public school,” they said.

My dad, on the other hand, was pushing me to apply for the prestigious national university-affiliated high school.

But I stood my ground.
I insisted on applying to the same public school as her.
And of course, I roped Grandpa into my plan—once he was on my side, Dad had no choice but to back off.

Then came high school entrance season.
I made it in.
And not only that—I was in the same class as her.

I was over the moon. Like, literally couldn’t stop smiling.

From that moment on, I started planning my next moves.
Step one: Let her know I come from money. Not in a braggy way, but just enough to plant the idea that if she became my wife someday, she could live a comfortable, maybe even luxurious life.

Step two: Show her that I’m popular. Girls confess to me all the time.
But I? I never stray. I’m loyal. I only have eyes for one woman.

If I can just get her to realize that…
Then maybe—just maybe—she’ll talk to her scary older brother and convince him I’m worthy.

That’s the plan.
