Chapter 59 – I Ended Up Fighting a Hero, Part 1
The plan to infiltrate the hideout where the group of hero suits was lurking, hovering at high altitude, was straightforward.
First, I created a water magic doll that mimicked the boy who had been scouted, then sent it to the meeting place mentioned in the letter.
If the enemy saw through the doll, I’d instantly slime it to restrain it on the spot. If not, the doll would roam the hero suits’ hideout for as long as needed to gather intel, then I’d restrain it when the timing was right.
That was the basic outline of my infiltration plan.
I had backup plans, but with how things were going, I didn’t expect to need them.
“Ugh… What is your purpose!? What have you done to the boy!? What do you intend to do to me!?”
The pink hero suit — Rose Pink Baroness — glared fiercely at us.
This kind of explanation was better left to Alicia. Thinking so, I sent her a hand signal, and with a sigh, she stepped in front of the fully pink-clad hero.
“You are suspected of involvement in a child kidnapping case. Don’t resist foolishly — obey our instructions quietly.”
“…Kidnapping? What nonsense? The Hero-sama would never commit such evil!”
Of course, she’d deny it. Judging by her behavior in the facility, she seemed utterly devoted to the Hero, or rather, the Commander, and was completely unaware that her actions were abnormal.
“Anyway, you’re going to take off that suit.”
“W-wait… stop…”
Alicia moved to remove the hero suit.
Not knowing who was inside, I wondered if it was better not to look.
“—Wait. Something’s coming.”
“!”
The surveillance drones, which I had detached from the water magic doll and were independently operating, warned us that someone was approaching the room.
“In three seconds, I’ll teleport Alicia to that safehouse. Once this is over, I’ll come pick her up. She’ll wait there until then.”
“…Understood. Don’t do anything reckless.”
“I’ll try my best.”
After sending Alicia to safety with spatial teleportation magic, I got into combat stance to prepare for the incoming enemy.
—
“Gotcha.”
A powerful laser blasted through the wall, aiming straight at me. The hole torn in the wall let the cold, thin air rush inside.
I narrowly dodged and quickly summoned an ice flyboard with ice magic, mounting it as I locked my gaze on my attacker.
“Are you alright, Rose!?”
“How dare you deceive us! But…”
“Don’t think you can get away for free! We’re going all out from the start!”
“For the crime of hurting Rose, you will atone here and now!”
Four people in hero suits appeared — including the white-suited one who called himself Doctor The White.
“Are you ready to confess, slime monster?”
“Nope. Not even one millimeter of that.”
“Then we’ll make you understand by force!”
The red hero suit shouted this as I shifted the slime, which had been blasted off the wall by a laser, into mist and controlled it.
“Tch! Trying to blind us with smoke! But that won’t work!”
The green hero suit blew a gust of wind from their palm, clearing the mist in an instant.
“You thought you could use that as a decoy to escape, but—”
“Escape? Who’s going to run?”
“!? You—”
I ordered dozens of the miniaturized drones I had created during the forest school to form a circle around me and open fire.
“Ughhh!?”
“One down.”
The high-pressure water blasted through the green hero suit’s backpack and arm holders, then slammed them into the slime room.
“You dare touch Fuuma…! [Thunder Dragon Chain Strike]!”
The yellow hero suit charged with lightning crackling on their arms.
(Defensive formation)
“Ugh…”
I thought while the drones changed shape to deploy multiple triangular water barriers, perfectly blocking the yellow hero suit’s attack.
(Slime transformation)
“Wha!? Wh-what is this!?”
I transformed the water barrier into slime to immobilize them.
“Two down.”
“You’ll pay for hurting my precious comrades!”
Doctor The White blasted off his jetpack at full power, launching attacks from multiple angles — beam rifles shaped like syringes, throwing scalpels with sub-arms, and more.
(Too tedious to dodge every attack…)
I activated “Body Enhancement (Medium),” kicked off the flyboard, and charged Doctor The White.
“What!?”
The doctor was caught off guard by the surprise rush, trying to escape by firing his jetpack.
(No way I’m letting you go.)
Though small, he was still a target I could hit.
Using one of his thrown weapons as a foothold, I accelerated further—
“Gah!?”
“Three down.”
I grabbed Doctor The White’s helmet and threw him into that slime-filled room.
Alright.
“You’re the last one. What will you do now?”
“Damn… if it’s come to this…”
The red hero suit manipulated something on their holder, pulled out a toy-like sword from their hip sheath, and got into a stance.
“You don’t intend to surrender, huh.”
“Heroes never accept defeat. So I’ll give you everything I’ve got to take you down!”
The red hero suit shouted as a massive Tyrannosaurus-themed mech slowly rose from the hangar below.
The red hero suit then turned into red light and flew into the mech’s eye.
“Now, kneel before the power of this God Tyranno-O!”
The Tyrannosaurus mech, aka God Tyranno-O, sprouted gigantic wings from its back and let out a heavy roar.
“Alright.”
I summoned a new flyboard and mounted it, gazing at the mechanical eye of the God Tyranno-O, now seemingly merged with the red hero suit.
“Didn’t you know? Getting huge like this is usually a losing sign.”
