Classmate wa Isekai de Yuusha ni Natta kedo, Ore dake Gendai Nihon ni Okizari ni Narimashita - Chapter 55

Chapter 55 – I Learned About an Urban Legend (Part 2)

"What the hell!? Don’t get in our way!"

One of the delinquent boys lunged at the suspicious figure clad head to toe in a hero suit and full-face mask, wielding a folding knife.

"Foolishness."

Murmuring in a muffled, genderless voice, the masked figure raised their palm toward the group.

"—O holy dragon of thunder, bearer of divine purity, bring judgment upon these wicked ones! 【Thunder Dragon Strike】!"

In the next instant, multiple bolts of lightning burst forth from the suspicious hero-suited figure.

"Gah!?"

"Ack!?"

The thunderclaps struck the delinquent boys and girls directly—avoiding nearby objects with pinpoint accuracy—and rendered them unconscious.

"Relax, I only used enough force to knock them out. Not that they can hear me right now."

Muttering that, the masked stranger casually retrieved the smartphones from the unconscious delinquents' pockets and crushed them effortlessly.

"Now then, are you hurt?"

"Ah, um… I just twisted my ankle a little, nothing else…"

When the bespectacled girl answered, the hero-suited stranger knelt to her level and held a hand over her reddened ankle.

"O holy Hero, grant me the power to heal this girl. 【Heal】."

"…No way."

A gentle light emitted from the figure’s hand, and the girl’s injured ankle visibly began to heal.

"Farewell then, young lady. Walk the righteous path you believe in, without fear of evil."

"W-Wait! Who are you—"

The hero-suited figure halted at the girl's desperate call.

"I am one who has been granted power by the holy Hero who returned from another world."

"Power from the Hero… Could I be granted that power too!?"

"…Why do you seek power?"

"Because I never want to go through something like this again. And I don't want anyone else to suffer either!"

Moved by her fervent plea, the stranger pulled out a memo pad from somewhere and handed her a slip of paper.

"This is…?"

"Go to the place written there. You may receive the Hero’s blessing as one of His followers. What happens next… you’ll have to decide for yourself."

With those words, the hero suit shimmered with yellow light, and in a flash of lightning, the figure vanished.

The camera that had been recording the entire scene—presumably hidden—was blown apart by the shockwave. After a brief distortion, the footage cut off completely.

---

"Alright, I’ll ask it straight. That hero-suited freak in the video—is that you?"

As the video ended, Alicia turned to me, interrogating me sharply.

"Nope. I was holed up in my room all day playing video games. Didn’t take a single step outside."

"Got any proof?"

"Didn’t bring any, but my game console has the data saved. That should be proof enough."

"I see…"

Alicia pondered for a moment, then contacted someone using an outdated flip phone.

After a short exchange, she thanked the person on the line and turned back to me.

"Confirmed. Seems you were indeed immersed in gaming during that timeframe."

"Seriously? You can check that kind of thing?"

"Any competent intelligence agency could. Anyway, sorry for dragging you here so suddenly and doubting you. That’s the end of the confirmation."

She turned to resume her work.

…No, hold on. After all that, how am I supposed to just nod and walk out?

"Wait, wait. At least explain some things. What was that video? Why did you suspect me? Also—"

"Don’t bombard me with questions. I’ll answer what you ask."

"…You will answer then?"

Relieved that I wouldn’t be thrown out in silence, I took a sip of tea and rephrased my questions.

"First question: What’s the deal with that video?"

"It was uploaded to a video sharing site a few days ago. My organization found it and deleted it immediately."

…It was online?

So, whoever filmed it wanted someone to see it?

"Next question. That wasn’t CG or edited—was it real?"

"Thirty minutes after that video was recorded, boys and girls with minor burns were rushed to the hospital. Their appearances matched, and their destroyed phones were found at the scene. So yeah, it’s confirmed to be real."

So that hero-suited weirdo is the real deal—someone with actual supernatural abilities.

"That’s why your organization suspected me—because I’m unaffiliated and unmonitored."

"For the record, I told them from the start that it wasn’t you."

"And on what basis?"

"You act on curiosity, not vanity. I can’t see you pulling off something so showy."

"…Wow. You’ve got me pegged."

I rewatched the part where the hero unleashes their lightning attack.

"Still, I’m surprised. An organization that can extract my gaming records in minutes can’t catch a guy in a flashy suit?"

"…If it were just one person, we would’ve found them easily."

"Meaning?"

"They seem to be operating as a group. Also, the bespectacled girl in the video? She’s been missing since the incident."

So they’re using voice modulators and body-hiding suits, and swapping out who’s inside. No wonder they’re hard to track.

Thinking that, I activated the skill 【Appraise】 on the hero-suited person and the bespectacled girl.

I’d already verified that the skill works even through screens. I should be able to uncover their identities immediately—at least, that’s what I thought.

---

Target: Peeping Canceller Scope

Effect: Protects any target’s information from all forms of analysis.

Condition: Normal

Note: A function embedded in the visor of the armored suit.

---

…So that hero suit isn’t just for cosplay—it’s a real Hero Suit, like something out of a tokusatsu show.

"Well, unless something big happens, I doubt you’ll run into them. Just enjoy your summer break like usual."

"…That’s it?"

"What do you mean, 'that’s it'?"

"I thought you’d ask me to help uncover their identities."

I’d gotten caught up in so many situations just by being nearby that I assumed this would be the same.

"My job is to monitor and protect you, not chase down wannabe heroes."

"…So you only called me to confirm my alibi?"

"Exactly."

The simplicity of the reason left me speechless.

Well, her message did say “I want to confirm something in person,” so I guess I was just overthinking.

"Alright, I’m heading out."

"Oh? You came all this way, why not relax a bit?"

"What would I even do in a room this spartan?"

"…Talk about romance, maybe?"

"That wouldn’t last five minutes."

With that, I started gathering my things to leave.

Alicia didn’t seem serious about keeping me around anyway.

"See you at school next week."

"Yeah. And don’t stick your nose in weird stuff, alright? Cleanup’s a pain."

"…I’ll try my best."

With that parting exchange, I left Alicia’s Safehouse No. 6.

Sure, that hero-suited weirdo was still on my mind.

But more than that, I just wanted to spend my summer sleeping and gaming.

Unless they crossed paths with me directly, I had no intention of getting involved.

---

Or so I thought…

---

"Prepare yourselves, scum! In the name of the holy Hero, I—His follower—shall deliver divine retribution upon you!"

Just a few hours later, I came face to face with another suspicious figure wearing a pink version of that same armored hero suit.

📝 Translation Notes:

3. ガラケー / Flip phone – Refers to older Japanese mobile phones, often still seen in government or security contexts in fiction.

4. 鑑定 / Appraise – A typical skill in isekai and game-themed stories that reveals info about objects or people.

5. ピーピング・キャンセラー・スコープ / Peeping Canceller Scope – A fictional item/feature preventing analysis by magical or system-based means, common in stories involving appraisal or

identification skills.

6. 稲妻となって飛び立つ / Vanished in a flash of lightning – A dramatic exit trope, emphasizing mystique and power.

7. Tokusatsu (特撮)- is a Japanese term for live-action film and television dramas that heavily utilize special effects. It encompasses a wide range of genres, including superhero shows, kaiju (giant monster) stories, and mecha (robot) series. Think Godzilla, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Super Sentai (the basis for Power Rangers) when you think of tokusatsu.
