Sōzoku Shita Sofu no Ie no Urayama ni Danjon ga Dekimashita - Chapter 146

Chapter : What Lies Ahead

When I woke up this morning, I followed my usual routine.

First, I asked Dahlia to handle the slime hunting in the mountain dungeon behind our house.

Then I opened all the windows wide, letting Anemone’s wind magic blow every speck of dust out of the house.

And finally, Freesia took care of the rest—casting Clean magic to purify the rooms.

Once the chores were done, I headed next door.

Mom had asked me to air out and tidy up the neighbor’s house too.

After finishing that, I hopped on my bike and rode to the Nakamori residence.

While having breakfast with everyone there, Kenta said,

“Since the university entrance exams are coming up, we’ll be taking a break from dungeon exploring for a while.”

We’d been told in advance, of course. And since Misuzu could contact Bach and the others via telepathy, they’d just open a teleport gate to pick them up, so there wouldn’t be any trouble.

Kenta’s childhood-friend party was planning to take their entrance exams for universities in Tokyo. If they passed, they’d live there until graduation.

Apparently, they intended to rent two apartments and pair up in twos. All the money they’d earned from dungeons so far was being kept as party funds for that purpose.

They’d already earned enough for tuition and living expenses, but said they’d need pocket money. So while attending university, they planned to dive into Tokyo’s dungeons as a party to earn extra cash.

Once they graduated, they’d return home and work as explorers again.

Seeing Misuzu worried about them, Bach went to an alchemist in another dimension and traded magic stones for high-grade potions.

He also got two storage pouches—each capable of holding up to 35 kilograms, though without any time-stop function.

After some discussion, Misuzu and I decided to give one of the potions and a pouch to Kenta, and the other pouch to my little sister, Mizuho.

As for us, Misuzu and I plan to apply to a national university within the prefecture, and we’ll be attending prep school starting in April.

Until now, Bach and the knights had been using the funds from selling magic stones obtained through monster hunts to buy what we needed, but apparently, they’ve already gathered most of the essentials.

Now, the money from selling those stones is being deposited into the Sunrise party fund.

Even without us doing anything, our party funds keep growing steadily.

All we really need to do now is enter dungeons to let the spirits and Snow absorb mana essence.

But if that’s all we did, we wouldn’t get to see Misuzu’s delighted face when she opens treasure chests—something she absolutely loves.

So, of course, we’ll continue exploring dungeons.

We’ve decided to attend prep school on Saturdays and go exploring on Sundays.

Then there’s my sister, Mizuho.

She’ll be moving here this spring and starting her third year of middle school.

Once she registers as an explorer, she plans to join Sunrise.

However, middle school students can’t register yet due to the age restriction.

So for now, I’m thinking of having her hunt slimes in the mountain dungeon to gain some experience.

Slimes move slowly—they’re perfect for beginners.

All they do is hop around or roll along the ground, making them ideal targets for practicing arrow shots at magic stones.

Since non-explorers can’t sell magic stones, I’ll handle that part through the Explorer’s Guild and pass the money on to Mizuho.

She’ll need to buy a new school uniform, and there’s a field trip coming up too.

Not to mention lunch fees and her allowance.

I already talked it over with Mom and Misuzu, and they both approved.

Mom’s planning to open a traditional-style restaurant in an old house, but until it’s up and running, there won’t be much income.

So I figure giving Mizuho her own earnings will also help support the family.

After finishing breakfast at the Nakamoris’, I spent a little time fluffing Snow and Shiratama. Then Misuzu and I walked to the station together, heading off to school.
