Sōzoku Shita Sofu no Ie no Urayama ni Danjon ga Dekimashita - Chapter 98

Takaya and Misuzu Explore the Dungeon’s Fifth Floor (Part 1)

We had arrived at the fifth basement floor of the dungeon.

As we passed through the fourth floor, I noticed several traps woven from tree vines scattered along the path.

It would be easy to trip over one if you were too focused on what’s to your left and right and forgot to look down.

The spirits informed me that goblins were hiding behind trees near those traps.

But the moment Snow approached, the goblins turned tail and ran.

Thanks to that, we made it through the fourth floor without a single battle.

Upon reaching the fifth floor, I asked the spirits to scout ahead.

With Snow and Shiratama with us, we had nothing to fear.

And besides, I still had the Wind Dagger—the one I’d never even used yet.

After a while, the scouting spirits returned.

Apparently, the water spirit Lupinus had found something.

So we decided to follow her lead.

We left the path leading to the floor boss’s chamber and crossed a meadow into a forest.

After a while, I began to hear the sound of running water.

A river?

I checked the dungeon map.

Sure enough, there was a river nearby.

We followed a path that seemed relatively easy to walk and eventually made it out of the forest, arriving at the riverside.

The clear water sparkled, sunlight dancing on its shimmering surface.

Guided by Lupinus, we began walking upstream.

The riverbank was littered with stones, making it tough to walk on.

Whenever we hit rough terrain, I offered Misuzu-san a hand as we continued forward.

Eventually, a massive waterfall came into view.

The water roared down in a powerful rush, mist spraying as we approached.

When I looked up, I saw a rainbow shimmering in the air.

“So pretty…” Misuzu-san murmured, mesmerized by the sight.

Did Lupinus bring us here just to show us this beautiful scene?

I turned to her and offered my thanks.

She radiated happiness in response.

Then, Lupinus pointed toward the waterfall.

Was there something hidden there?

I stared at the cascade as Lupinus flew toward it—and disappeared right into the curtain of falling water.

I decided to wait and observe for a moment.

Misuzu-san was still enchanted by the rainbow.

Suddenly, the waterfall split in two.

Behind it was a hidden passageway.

Had Lupinus done that?

She was a water spirit, after all—it made sense.

Inside the newly revealed passage floated two spirits: Lupinus and another, unfamiliar one.

The second spirit hovered beside her in the air.

Judging by its large size, there was no mistaking it—this was a high-ranking spirit.

With brown hair, eyes, and wings… could it be an earth spirit?

But with the heavy current and volume of water in that basin, there was no way we could just walk through.

And there wasn’t any path looping around behind the falls either.

What now?

As I puzzled it out, the ground at my feet suddenly began to rise—stretching out toward the parted waterfall.

I watched as it slowly took shape… and became a stone bridge.

As I thought—it must’ve been the work of the high-ranking earth spirit.

None of my own spirits could solidify earth like that, let alone craft something resembling stone.

It looked like the high-ranking spirit was welcoming us.

I called out to Misuzu-san, and together, we stepped onto the stone bridge and began crossing.
