Damn goblins! I’ll never forgive them!

As I thought, being in a narrow area puts me at a disadvantage.

I decide to retreat to the entrance.
That place was the most spacious of all the areas we walked through so far.

As I lead the way, something hits my head.

What the—? When I look down, it’s a spiky chestnut burr.

The kind with the nut removed, just the sharp outer shell.

Fortunately, I’m wearing a plastic helmet on my head.

So, I take no damage.

Next, I look up.

There’s a goblin up in a tree.

That goblin dropped the spiky chestnut on me.

I swing my axe at the tree.

Cutting wood is exactly what axes are made for.

While I’m engrossed in hacking the tree, a sharp pain shoots through my butt.

Apparently, while I was too focused on chopping, another goblin circled around behind me and hit me square in the rear with its club.

Damn it! That hurt!

Where the hell is Kudo?!

I look around for him.

And there he is—standing in the distance, spaced out and doing nothing.

I confront him.

“Why did you move away from me without staying alert?!”

Kudo responds, “Well, if the tree fell, it would’ve been dangerous, so I just watched from a safe distance.”

…You don’t need me to tell you to stay alert! At least watch our surroundings!

When I look back up at the tree, the goblin is already gone.

According to Kudo, while I was wailing from the club hit, the goblin took the opportunity to climb down and flee.

This is hopeless.

We finally make it back to the dungeon entrance.

But now, over 20 goblins are gathered there.

I call Kudo over and stand back-to-back with him.

Now, Kudo is watching my rear.
