Takuya Talks with the High-Level Wind Spirit

I decided to ask the high-level wind spirit about the history of the castle.

According to the spirit, originally this castle was inhabited by monsters whose upper bodies resembled human women, but whose lower bodies were those of birds, complete with wings on their backs.

The wind spirits fought against these monsters, won the battle, and took over the castle.

Just as I had guessed, the high-level spirit said they wanted a safe place where the fairies could live peacefully.

In one corner of the room, piles of magic stones from the defeated monsters were carelessly stacked.

When I asked about the stones, the spirit said that spirits don’t need magic stones and that I could take them with me.

The branch chief told me that at least one magic stone was needed as proof when reporting, and that examining a magic stone reveals the kind of monster it came from.

Then, the spirit explained that after they defeated the monster boss who had sat on the throne, a treasure chest appeared on the floor at the bottom of the throne’s steps.

However, the spirit said that the treasure chest was just in the way.

Indeed, having a treasure chest right in front of the throne in the audience chamber would be quite a nuisance.

I explained that when you open a treasure chest and take out its contents, it disappears in a sparkle of light.

The high-level spirit responded, “Since we don’t need the contents of the chest, you can have them. So please make that troublesome chest disappear.”

That meant we could claim the treasure inside, and the spirits would no longer be bothered by the chest.

Isn’t that a win-win situation?

For us, there was no downside.

It felt like a lucky event.

I had Anemone check the chest, and she confirmed there were no traps.

I had opened many treasure chests before.

When I glanced at Misuzu beside me, she was staring intently at the chest.

She looked excited and eager.

There was no other choice but to have Misuzu open the chest.

I decided that Misuzu would be the one to open it.
