Sōzoku Shita Sofu no Ie no Urayama ni Danjon ga Dekimashita - Chapter 115

Chapter: Takaya and Misuzu Report on the Dungeon’s Sixth Floor

After using the Transfer Stone, we returned to the first floor of the dungeon.

Once we exited through the dungeon gate, our next stop was the branch manager’s office to report what had happened.

At the reception desk, I told them, “We’d like to see the branch manager,” and the receptionist smiled. “Go right ahead.”

Another face-pass. Perks of reputation, I guess.

Inside the branch manager’s office, we sat down on the sofa. He looked at us and asked, “What’s wrong? Did something happen?”

I explained how we almost got caught in a trap on the sixth basement floor—a real close call.

The manager’s eyes widened. “Seriously!? …No, if you two say so, it must be true. The Explorers’ Association will need to investigate that immediately! Can you take us to the site?”

“I’d rather not today. It’s been exhausting,” I replied.

Misuzu added, “Same here. I just want to rest for a while.”

Yeah… she must be tired too. It was her first real brush with danger since entering a dungeon.

The manager nodded. “Fair enough. We’ll need to make preparations on our end as well. Since it doesn’t seem overly dangerous, we won’t bother hiring extra guards. We have you two anyway. I’ll have everything ready by tonight—come back tomorrow morning.”

No problem. We’ve got three days off anyway.

When we agreed, the manager called in a clerk and said, “Get a hotel room ready for Takaya and Misuzu. Charge it to the branch.”

Then he looked at us sternly. “And you’re still minors. Make sure you call your parents!”

“Yes, sir!” Misuzu responded cheerfully, and we left the office.

The next morning, we headed to the association office. The branch manager and three staff members were waiting for us.

We all teleported together using the Transfer Stone on the first floor, arriving in the transport room that linked the fifth and sixth floors. From there, we walked to the sixth floor entrance.

One of the staff unloaded a large pack from his back—and out came a drone.

I couldn’t help asking the manager, “Wait, drones? I thought signals don’t work inside dungeons?”

He explained, “Signals work within the same floor. So drones and transceivers function just fine. The issue is cross-floor communication. That’s why phones are useless down here.”

Once the drone was ready, the manager asked, “Takaya, which way?”

…Which way? Yeah, good question. I had no idea. Yesterday, we just followed the spirits.

So I asked the spirits again to guide us back to the big tree from yesterday. They immediately began leading the way.

The route wasn’t straightforward. Trees everywhere, forcing us to weave left and right for quite a while. Eventually, we reached that enormous tree.

The manager gave instructions, and the staff began their examination.

“It’s true! You can go inside the tree!”
“And there’s an illusion spell at work! If we alert the research lab, this could advance magical studies!”

They were buzzing with excitement.

Since the route was so confusing, they flew the drone high above to map the terrain and record footage. Later, they’d use the data to redraw the dungeon maps.

The manager emerged from the tree after inspecting the interior.

“Just as you reported, the magic circle was there. But it’s inactive—probably because you destroyed the one on the other side. If anyone else had used it, they wouldn’t have been able to return. You two saved us a lot of trouble. Thank you.”

He continued, “We’ll pay your day rate and an information bonus. Stop by the branch on your way back.”

Misuzu spoke up immediately, “Please deposit everything into the Sunrise account!”

“Understood,” the manager replied with a nod.

Misuzu grinned. “If Mizuho ends up joining our party, we’ll need to save a lot more!”

Lately, she’s been messaging Mizuho all the time.

Is she really going to move here…?
