Takuya’s Mother and Sister Arrive Part I

A few days ago, I got a call from my mother.

She sounded worried, asking if I was eating properly and checking up on all sorts of things.

It seemed like the perfect opportunity to tell her that I was dating Nakamori-san, and that thanks to her mother’s kindness, I’d even been treated to meals at their house.

“You should have told me such an important thing sooner!” she scolded over the phone.

And just like that, she said she’d be coming over as soon as possible to formally greet the Nakamori family and to thank them for taking care of me.

A little later, she called again, saying she’d be bringing my little sister for a two-night, three-day stay.

When I mentioned this to the Nakamori household, both Mom and Misuzu started panicking. They immediately began making appointments at the hair salon.

Then Misuzu said, “We’re going shopping for new clothes! You have to come with me!”

I thought, It’s just my mom and sister coming over—do we really need new outfits? But then I realized it might be nice to go out somewhere besides the dungeon for a change, so I agreed to go along.

We took the bus to the shopping mall. Inside, the cool air conditioning was a relief from the summer heat.

I followed Misuzu as she led the way.

We went into clothing stores, browsing through racks, but nothing seemed to catch her eye. One store after another, we moved through the mall.

…An hour passed. Two hours passed. Still, nothing had been decided.

I couldn’t help it anymore and said, “Maybe you should narrow down the choices?”

“Got it!” Misuzu replied enthusiastically.

Finally, I thought. This means we’re almost done choosing clothes…

About an hour later, the options were finally narrowed down. Misuzu turned to me, smiling, and asked, “Which one do you like better?”

Both outfits looked great on her, so I honestly answered, “They’re both cute!”

“Which one do you like better?!” she snapped.

…I just told the truth because both looked nice, and now I was being scolded.

In the end, she bought both outfits. Apparently, she’d consult with her mother later to decide which one to wear first.

I feel like I got scolded for nothing…

Afterward, we had lunch at the food court, then returned to the Nakamori household.

Nakamori-san’s mother asked what kind of dishes she should prepare for my mother and sister. She wanted to serve lunch at the house.

Her cooking was incredible—everything she made was delicious.

So I said, “Anything would be fine, I think.”

“That’s exactly the problem!” she scolded me.

What? I just answered honestly… why am I getting yelled at again?

In the end, they decided to order a set from a nearby restaurant: sushi, tempura, salad, chawanmushi, and clear soup.

I really do feel like I’m just getting scolded for no reason…

On the day my mother and sister arrive, Kenta-san is going to take the day off from his adventuring work to pick them up at the station.
