Sōzoku Shita Sofu no Ie no Urayama ni Danjon ga Dekimashita - Chapter 100

Contract with the Earth Spirit

I called out to the earth spirits floating quietly around the room.

“Would you form a contract with me?”

Two small, brown fairies slowly drifted toward me in response.

Now… which one should I choose?

I spent a moment considering, watching their movements carefully. Then, one of them quietly turned and drifted away, as if politely excusing itself from the selection.

I took that as a sign.

I looked at the fairy who remained close and smiled. “Your name is Amber.”

The moment I said that, a calm, mechanical woman’s voice echoed in my mind.

“Contract with the Earth Spirit has been established.”
“Earth Spirit Amber has evolved into a Lesser Earth Spirit.”

Yes! The contract worked!

Amber slowly floated down in front of me, and I gently caught her in the palm of my hand.

“Amber, I’m counting on you,” I said warmly.

Then I turned to Misuzu-san. “I did it! I formed a contract with the earth spirit. Her name is Amber.”

Misuzu-san couldn’t see the spirits, but perhaps she guessed where Amber was.

Looking toward my outstretched palm, she smiled and said, “Nice to meet you, Amber!”

Then, giggling softly, she added, “Amber... as in ‘kohaku-chan.’ That’s so cute.”

Yeah.

She really is adorable today, too.

I tucked the bow and the magic stone we’d gotten from the treasure chest into my pouch, then joined Misuzu-san in bowing our thanks to the Greater Earth Spirit before heading back behind the waterfall.

With a wave of her hand, Lupinus cast a water spell, parting the waterfall in two.

We passed through the narrow corridor of cascading water and arrived at the pool at its base.

There, Amber conjured a stone bridge for us using earth magic, spanning across the waterfall basin.

Since her magic wasn’t as powerful as a greater spirit’s, the bridge was only about 30 centimeters wide—narrow, but enough.

We crossed in single file, with me leading and Misuzu-san close behind. Carefully, step by step, we made it to the other side safely.

Once we were across, Amber released the spell. The stone bridge vanished, and the pool returned to its original state.

“Thank you, Amber!” I said.

In response, I felt a warm, happy emotion radiate from her—she was glad to be of help.

I pulled up the dungeon map.

If we followed the river downstream, it would take us close to the floor boss’s chamber on B5.

At this point, it made more sense to pass through that room and use the transfer stone beyond it to return directly to the first floor.

I turned to Misuzu-san and nodded.

“Let’s head out.”

We followed the river path for a while until we finally arrived in front of the floor boss’s room.

…but the door was still shut.

Looks like someone else was already in the middle of a boss battle.

So we decided to take a break.

I pulled a leisure sheet from my pouch, spread it out on the ground, and sat down. Misuzu-san joined me, sitting by my side as she pulled out a canteen and a small pouch of handmade cookies.

We chatted quietly, enjoying the calm, as we waited for the door to open once more.
