The Paper User: Exiled for a ‘Trash Skill,’ Awakens True Power and Rises with Two Unique Skills ,Volume 2 - Chapter 8

Chapter : Gahon Forest

At the entrance to Gahon Forest, dozens of adventurers had gathered.

Each of them was busy checking their gear—polishing weapons, adjusting armor, and rummaging through the magic pouches that held enchanted tools and rations.

From the color of their plates, most of them were E-rank or D-rank adventurers.

“Looks like none of the Flame Dragon Corps members are here yet,” Almine said, scanning the area.

“Probably just other parties who got the same job from the Corps, like us,” I replied.

My hand drifted to the pocket of my cloak. Inside the magical pocket, I had stored plenty of paper sheets infused with special effects. They were bound to come in handy for this mission.

“Ah, Yakumo!” a familiar voice called from behind.

I turned to see Raiza and Teto walking toward me. Raiza waved cheerfully and hurried over with a bright smile.

“You got a request from the Flame Dragon Corps too?” she asked.

“Yeah. You two as well, huh?”

“Yep. We’ve been exploring Gahon Forest a lot recently, so we know the lay of the land. Plus…” She lowered her voice slightly. “We were the ones who found Lax’s body.”

“I see… But do you think we can handle this?” I asked.

Teto frowned nervously. “Searching for a Dolls’ Cult temple? That’s seriously dangerous. Their followers could attack us at any time.”

“But you were the one who insisted we take this request,” Raiza reminded him with a smirk.

“That’s because the pay was really good!”

“Exactly. High pay means high risk.” Raiza flicked her finger against his forehead.

“Ow…”

“Well, I think you’ve got potential,” she continued, her tone softening. “If you gain more combat experience, you could easily move up to D-rank or higher. Then you’ll get even better jobs.”

“You really think I have that kind of talent?”

“Of course. You might be a little timid and mess up sometimes, but you’ve got a strong magic reserve, and you’re pretty good with a sword. Work hard enough, and you could become a true magic swordsman.”

“A magic swordsman, huh? That’d be nice…”

Teto let out a small sigh.

Raiza turned back to me and smiled. “Anyway, let’s work well together.”

“Yeah. Likewise.” I grasped her outstretched hand firmly.
