The Paper User: Exiled for a ‘Trash Skill,’ Awakens True Power and Rises with Two Unique Skills ,Volume 2 - Chapter 2

Chapter : Battle on the Night Plains II

"Yatta no daaa!"("I did it!")

Piln suddenly threw her arms around me.

"We’ve taken down a Needle Dragon—something even stronger than the Demon Lord!"

"No, it’s definitely not stronger than the Demon Lord," I said, quickly correcting her.

"Still, I think it’s amazing we defeated a Needle Dragon at all. Plenty of adventurers have died to those spikes and that blue flame of theirs."

"True enough," Kinako said, placing one of her soft pink paw pads against the creature’s head.

"An entire ten-man party once failed to bring this thing down—several of them died in the attempt. Yet we beat it with just four people… and without a single injury."

Kinako turned her gaze on me.

"Your unique skill really pulled its weight again. Those paper walls of yours can shield allies, and your paper attacks come in so many patterns, all of them deadly. And with your [Magic Overdrive], you can produce paper in ridiculous quantities. No one would believe you’re just an E-rank adventurer."

"Yakumo-kun’s ability is well beyond A-rank," Arminé added, giving my shoulder a light tap.

"Maybe even S-rank level."

"Not a chance," I said, shaking my head.

"S-rank and A-rank adventurers are people with real talent. I’ve only been doing this for less than a year—I’m not the same as them."

"Don’t be so sure," Kinako replied.

"Your fighting style is unorthodox, but I’d place you above most A-ranks. Honestly, if you had the golden plate of an S-rank on your chest, I wouldn’t be surprised."

"Exactly," Arminé agreed, nodding emphatically.

"I’m really glad you joined our party, Yakumo-kun. Thanks to you, we took down the Needle Dragon. Between the reward and the materials, this should net us at least ten large gold coins."

"Ten large gold coins?!" Piln’s violet eyes lit up.

"That’s an astronomical number!"

"Not quite that big," Arminé said, smacking her lightly on the arm.

"Still, we didn’t use much alchemy material this time, so I think I can give everyone at least two large gold coins each."

"That’s enough for me to eat golden ox steak every day!" Piln said, hurriedly wiping the drool from the corner of her mouth.

I couldn’t help but smile at the sight. Trust Piln to spend her share entirely on food.

"Alright, let’s pack up the Needle Dragon and head back to Ejin Village. We still have to report to the village chief that the request’s been completed."

With that, Arminé picked up the storage magic item—a box—and got to work.
