Chapter : Queen Spider
I ran straight toward the Queen Spider.
“KyuaaAAAA!”
The Queen Spider opened its mouth wide and let out a shriek that shook the surrounding air.
In response, over thirty Magic Steel Spiders gathered around her as if to protect their queen. They spat white threads, blocking my path.
Then I’ll just target her from here!
I pulled out 230 sheets of dark-attribute-infused paper from my pocket…
Above my head, a giant spear made of paper materialized—over five meters long and glowing with a deep bluish-purple hue.
“Go! Giant Spear of the Dark Moon!”
The Giant Spear of the Dark Moon smashed through the Magic Steel Spiders and pierced the Queen Spider’s oval-shaped torso.
“Kyua… aa… a…”
Her shriek was cut short as her massive body collapsed onto its side.
Alright! That should make the fight much easier now.
“You did it, Yakumo-kun!”
Almine came running over to me.
“I can’t believe you managed to manifest a spear that huge! And with dark magic too, right?”
“Yeah. It’s a type of dark-attribute paper that drains stamina. I had it stocked up just for this.”
I touched the pocket on my chest.
“I used over two hundred sheets though, so I won’t be able to make that spear again.”
“But taking down the Queen Spider was ideal. I think we can manage the rest now.”
Almine turned her gaze toward Kinako and the others who were still fighting the Magic Steel Spiders.
A few minutes after we defeated the Queen Spider…
The Magic Steel Spiders, now reduced to less than half their original number, began to flee.
I steadied my breathing as I looked around.
Among the corpses of the spiders lay four members of the Moonlight Order, collapsed on the ground.
Four of them… gone.
I bit my lip hard.
If only I had defeated the Queen Spider sooner… No, this isn’t the time to dwell on that.
We need to get out of here. Fast.
That’s when—
Clack… clack… clack-clack…
The rattling of bones echoed through the air, and more than 200 Skeleton Soldiers appeared.
They surrounded the seven of us who remained.
And from the entrance of the plaza, Daglud emerged. Standing on either side of him were two Metallic Dolls with their long arms hanging limp.
Daglud scanned us with his golden eyes.
“So the slaves must be elsewhere. First, you’ll tell me where they are.”
“As if we’d ever tell you that.”
Kinako stepped forward, facing off against Daglud.
“Let me ask you something instead. You’re said to be directly under the command of Zeldia, one of the Six Demon Stars, aren’t you?”
“And what of it?”
“In that case, tell me where Zeldia is.”
“Zeldia-sama’s location?”
Daglud tilted his head.
“What business do you have with Zeldia-sama?”
“Nothing major. I just intend to kill him.”
“…You? Kill Zeldia-sama?”
Daglud’s lips curled upward in amusement.
“You’re quite the comedian. As if a mere catfolk could ever kill Zeldia-sama.”
“A mere catfolk, huh…”
Kinako scratched his head with his sharp white claws.
“Demons love to say that. And dozens of them have died by my hand right after saying those exact words.”
“…Hmm. That’s impressive, but it means nothing if they were all weaklings.”
“In that case, I guess beating you won’t be worth bragging about either.”
Kinako’s remark left Daglud in brief silence.
“…Hah… haha…”
Then Daglud began to laugh.
“Very well. Let’s see if you’re actually as strong as you claim.”
With that, Daglud manifested a golden sword.
“Skeleton soldiers—kill the other adventurers!”
At his command, all the Skeleton Soldiers surrounding us sprang into action.
