Chapter :: Silfeel and Dagrood
“A meaningless attack.”
Dagrood muttered.
“Was that your full power?”
“No. I was just checking the doll’s movements.”
“…Checking its movements?”
“Yes. Even though it’s humanoid, its movements are irregular. I wanted to observe that. Also...”
“Also what?”
“This doll doesn’t bother protecting its head or abdomen, but it always tries to guard just below its neck with its hands. Maybe that’s its weak spot?”
Dagrood’s eyebrows twitched slightly at Silfeel’s words.
“…Oh? You noticed the core of the Metallic Doll. But even if you did, it’s useless. Your attacks can’t pierce the Metallic Doll’s fluid skin.”
“Hmm. I’ll show you why that idea is wrong.”
Silfeel chanted a spell and charged at the Metallic Doll. The blades of her Twin-Headed Radiant Blade gleamed brighter, their tips thinning to needle-like points.
The Metallic Doll swung its crossed arms downward.
“Too late now.”
Silfeel slashed off both of the Metallic Doll’s arms with the Twin-Headed Radiant Blade.
“Now it can’t protect below its neck.”
Taking a large step forward with her left foot, she thrust the blade’s golden tip into the Metallic Doll’s neck area.
With a sound like breaking glass, the Metallic Doll froze.
“There. I win.”
As Silfeel said this, the members of the Moonlight Guild cheered.
“As expected of Lady Silfeel. A crushing victory!”
“Y-Yeah. Our leader really is the best.”
“Long live Lady Silfeel! Long live the Moonlight Guild!”
She’s strong. Overwhelmingly strong.
I watched Silfeel piercing the Metallic Doll’s body with her Twin-Headed Radiant Blade.
It was amazing not only that the weapon-enhanced magic allowed her to pierce the hard Metallic Doll, but also that she cut off both arms in an instant.
“Now, let’s see you keep your promise.”
Silfeel fixed her gaze on Dagrood.
“Your doll is broken now.”
“Indeed. Impressive skill.”
Dagrood clapped his hands twice at his chest.
“But this isn’t your victory.”
“Huh? Not a victory?”
“No. This match is a draw.”
As Dagrood’s mouth curled into a smirk, a clicking noise came from the Metallic Doll’s body pierced by the Twin-Headed Radiant Blade.
Sensing danger, Silfeel pulled out her blade and quickly cast a spell.
Her body began glowing pale yellow-white, and simultaneously, the Metallic Doll’s body exploded.
Silfeel crashed hard against a building wall behind her.
“Ugh...”
She twisted her lips and looked at her own body, where silver fragments were lodged in her abdomen.
Silfeel swayed and collapsed to the ground.
“Lady Silfeel!”
Pale-faced Corinne rushed over and cast a healing spell.
Silfeel’s body glowed pale blue, but she did not attempt to get up.
“Well then...”
Dagrood pressed a button on the cylinder.
Nine Metallic Dolls appeared from inside the building.
“Who else wants to fight the Metallic Dolls? Conditions are the same as before.”
“You’ve got to be kidding!”
A large guild member clad in silver armor shouted angrily.
“Lady Silfeel was winning. And yet you use such a dirty trick? Don’t demons have any pride?”
“Pride means nothing.”
Dagrood replied with an emotionless voice.
“If caring about pride causes you to lose a fight, then it’s a hindrance. Do humans not understand that?”
“Ugh… You coward!”
The guild member drew his longsword and charged at Dagrood.
Dagrood materialized a golden sword and gripped its hilt with his right hand.
He swung it down at the charging member.
The guild member’s body, along with his silver armor, was cut cleanly in half.
Both halves fell simultaneously, staining the ground red.
“Hmm… As expected, it’s hard to tell if this weapon is strong or weak against mere humans.”
Dagrood stared at the twisted, misshapen blade.
“Well, whatever. Let’s end the experiment here. Skeleton soldiers, kill all the adventurers!”
