Dungeon Basement 3rd Floor ⑤
We arrived at the dungeon entrance.
At the buyback counter, we exchanged magic stones for money.
I was shocked — it was about 500,000 yen!
Then we deposited the entire amount into the party funds.
Nakamori-san was delighted.
Really, extremely happy.
I wondered if she wanted to buy something special.
Seeing Nakamori-san’s smile made me happy too.
After that, we went to see the branch chief to report.
When we told the receptionist we wanted to see the branch chief, they said, "Please come in," and let us through.
Today was a face-pass day again.
I was certain of it!
We knocked on the door and entered the room.
"What is it, Takuya? Did something happen?" the branch chief asked.
I reported what had happened today.
"The fish monsters could be caught without bait!"
Strangely, the branch chief’s reaction was subdued.
Maybe he was feeling unwell.
Lately, he seemed to look pale.
Next, I told him about the lake where there were no fish monsters.
And about the spirit there.
That the spirit was a high-rank one.
And that I had made a contract with a lower-rank water spirit on its behalf.
The branch chief silently listened to my story.
I continued.
The spirit defeated the fish monsters, and the magic stones from the defeated monsters accumulated at the bottom of the lake, so the spirit asked me to take them away because they were in the way.
I brought back as many as I could carry.
Finally, the spirit asked me to stop by the lake regularly to collect magic stones.
The branch chief thought about it for a while.
Then he made a decision.
"We can’t afford to anger a high-rank spirit. We considered banning entry, but that would attract attention and curious people might approach, which could anger the spirit. Since there are no problems now, let’s monitor the situation as is."
He continued,
"Also, Takuya, you will visit the lake regularly, meet the spirit, and check for any issues. Plus, you’ll be in charge of collecting magic stones. You’re the only one who can see spirits, so no one else can do it. Therefore, it’s your responsibility!"
And so, I was officially appointed by the branch chief as the magic stone collection agent for the lake.
The dungeon in my backyard was small and might disappear someday.
But I had acquired a new source of income!
Yay! Ufufu.
Regarding the new spirit I contracted, the branch chief said he would report it, but the headquarters still does not officially acknowledge spirits, so no one would say anything even if the report went up.
So, I shouldn’t worry about it.
After reporting to the branch chief, we moved to the cafeteria on the second floor.
The two of us drank cider while waiting for Kenta and the others.
And so, my Golden Week came to an end.
