During my fight with Nagamoto, I used Appraisal on the shimmering threads I’d spotted, revealing them as Puppetry Manipulation, a form of dark yokai magic that allows limited control over others. The fox tail had been orchestrating events in secret—reviving the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.

After acquiring the flesh of the Ox-Demon, it offered “youth” to the elderly Nagamoto, and revenge to Seina—turning them both into instruments to create minions for its ritual. It had nearly succeeded.

Thanks to Appraisal and Alicia’s intel, Kuon and I tracked nearly every supernatural presence in town—burning through half my MP, but uncovering its lair was worth it.

"A 'noble divine form' that gets wrecked by a kid? Give me a break."

"YOU INSOLENT BRAT! I WILL MAKE YOU SUFFER AS YOU DIE SCREAMING!!"

As it roared, its puppet body bubbled and reformed into its true, bestial shape: massive jagged fangs, hardened tails, soot-stained golden fur, and one malevolent eye.

But my objective didn’t change.

"First, I’ll tear out that smart mouth— Hrk?!"

Mid-sentence, its eye widened—then its legs gave way and it collapsed.

"M-MY LEG! MY LEEEEG?!"

"Stop screaming. It's just one leg."

I jabbed back and used Moderate Body Enhancement to leap onto its back, grabbing its scruff and slamming it into the floor.

"Y-YOU BASTARD!"

Its tail flicked, unleashing a torrent of purple flames.

Before I could strike again, it pleaded.

"I... I can grant your wish! I am one of the mighty Nine-Tails!"

"Hmm…"

I dispelled my ice blade and approached, unarmed. It flashed a triumphant grin.

"Go on—name your wish!"

"…Listen up."

I clenched my fist and stared him down.

"Let me PUNCH the bastard who hurt my sister."

"G-GWOOOOOAH?!"

My punch slammed into its skull with bone-shattering impact. Its head sank through the floor, and it lay still.

"Phew… Done."

"Understood. Kyōri and I are en route."

Alicia’s voice crackled in my ear. I looked at the unconscious fox. I’d wanted to kill it—but Alicia had ordered a live capture.

"…I’ll leave the rest to them."

I reinforced the restraints with Freezing Magic and teleported to the hospital where Kana and the others waited.
