Sōzoku Shita Sofu no Ie no Urayama ni Danjon ga Dekimashita - Chapter 129

Chapter : Takaya and Misuzu vs. the Dungeon’s 7th Floor Boss

Once we’d defeated every last Lizardman, the ground was littered with magic stones, armor pieces, spears, and shields.

They must have dropped as loot after the monsters were slain.

“Branch Manager, could you hold onto the magic stones and drops for us? They won’t all fit in my pouch!” I asked.

“Sure,” he replied with a nod. “I’ll store them separately from the other gear, so don’t worry.”

With that taken care of, we moved up to the raised section at the end of the hall.

A magic circle was carved into the floor — though it wasn’t glowing, meaning it wasn’t active.

Just to be sure, I cautiously stepped one foot into the circle.

As expected, nothing happened.

“You probably know this already,” the branch manager began, “but stepping onto that elevated platform will summon the boss.

If you can’t win, retreat immediately.

And once you step on it, you won’t be able to leave until the fight’s over.”

“Got it. Then, shall we?” I said.

“Yeah! Let’s beat the boss and grab the treasure chest!” Misuzu-san replied with a grin.

The three of us stepped onto the raised platform — me on the right, Misuzu-san in the center, and Snow on the left.

Even Shiratama, who usually stayed in Misuzu-san’s bag, hopped out and sat in front of her.

We had no idea what kind of monster would appear. Even Shiratama seemed tense.

Light began to gather in front of us, forming a shape.

When the glow faded, a single monster — or something like one — stood there.

It was clad in pitch-black armor from head to toe, a sword in its right hand, and… holding its helmet in its left.

Wait — shouldn’t the helmet be on its head?

It didn’t have a head at all!

Then, the eye slits in the helmet it held began to glow a sinister red.

Were its eyes inside the helmet?

“Dullahan!” one of the guild staff cried from behind us.

So that’s what this monster was called.

The spirits launched their attacks immediately.

But no matter how many spells struck, the armor absorbed them completely.

Magic didn’t work.

As I was realizing this, Misuzu-san shouted, “Takaya-san! That armor has magic nullification on it!”

Magic nullification?! I hadn’t even known that was possible.

No wonder the spirits’ attacks were useless.

The Dullahan seemed to know this as well, paying no mind to the spirits as it strode forward.

Spirits couldn’t use physical attacks.

At this rate, we couldn’t hurt it at all.

I quickly pulled out my wallet, took a single ten-yen coin, and placed it in my left palm.

“Misuzu-san, can you locate its magic stone?”

“Appraisal’s being interfered with!”

“Pierce!” Misuzu-san activated her Pierce skill.

At that moment, flames erupted along the Dullahan’s sword.

So the weapon was enchanted with fire magic.

The next moment, it swung the blade sideways.

BOOM!

A flaming slash hurtled toward us — only to crash against Shiratama’s barrier.

Good girl, Shiratama! Always so reliable.

Once we beat this thing, I was going to pet her until she purred.

“The magic stone is right in the center of its chest!” Misuzu-san called out.

I focused, activating my skill.

“Change!”

A large, red-black magic stone materialized in my palm.

Got it!

The Dullahan dissolved into glowing particles of light.

Clink.

The ten-yen coin dropped to the floor where it had stood.
