Sōzoku Shita Sofu no Ie no Urayama ni Danjon ga Dekimashita - Chapter 77

Takuya finds himself curious about the clouds.

We arrived at our usual spot in the grasslands.

Just past the hill on the right, we laid out a leisure sheet under the large tree.

Snow ran around happily.

Maybe it’s because he’s a dog—or a wolf?—but he clearly loves running.

After sprinting around for a while, he returned to Misuzu-san, then took off again.

Shiratama popped out from the bag and flopped down onto the sheet.

I sat down and gave Shiratama some affectionate fluffing.

I asked Viola and Lupinus to handle the nearby slimes, and assigned Anemone and Freesia to keep watch over the area.

Viola and Lupinus were still lower-tier spirits, so I figured it’d be a good chance to get them a bit of experience.

After getting my fill of fluffing Shiratama, I sprawled out on the sheet and relaxed.

Through the gaps in the leaves, I could see the clouds above.

Then, I suddenly wondered—

What’s up with those clouds?

They always have the exact same shape and stay in the exact same place.

Is there a ceiling with some kind of cloud painting up there?

…Now I can’t stop thinking about it.

I asked Anemone, my wind spirit, to go investigate.

She took off, flying up toward the sky.

There were only slimes around this area, so with Freesia here, there shouldn't be any danger.

Plus, we had Snow too.

Misuzu-san poured me a drink from the thermos.

Today it was unsweetened milk tea.

She also brought out some homemade cookies, and I sipped my tea while nibbling on them.

“Mm. These are really good!” I said.

Misuzu-san smiled, looking absolutely delighted.

I wished this peaceful, happy moment could last forever.

If the branch manager found out, he'd probably scold me like, “What do you think you’re doing inside a dungeon!?”—so I decided to keep quiet about it.

After finishing my snack, I laid back on the leisure sheet and waited for Anemone to return.

Translator’s Notes:

  • 「あの雲って、どうなっているんだろう?」 → Presented as an internal monologue, retaining the narrator’s sense of innocent curiosity.

  • 無糖のミルクティー・手作りクッキー → “unsweetened milk tea” and “homemade cookies” maintain the warm, homemade vibe.

  • ダンジョンの中でなにやってるんだ! → Translated with “What do you think you’re doing inside a dungeon!?” to match the comedic exasperation.

  • 精霊の役割分担(討伐・警戒) → Preserved explicitly to reflect strategic planning and spirit roles.
