After that, we continued to defeat Armor Golems one after another.

Since we had selected high-ranking adventurers, there was no battle where we were at a disadvantage.

The Flame Dragon Guild members coordinated perfectly, and the other adventurers were also strong. I fought mainly with my Mana-Eating Dagger, hardly using my Paper User skill.

During a break, Melt spoke to me in a widened corridor.

「Yakumo, can you show me the dagger you used to kill the Armor Golem earlier?」

「Ah, this one?」

I handed the Mana-Eating Dagger to Melt. He stared at the blade.

「…I see. A dagger infused with mana to increase its power.」

「Yes. Almine crafted this weapon.」

I pointed to Almine, drinking water with Piln.

「It’s very practical, a huge help in battle.」

「But it consumes an enormous amount of mana.」

The blade of Melt’s Mana-Eating Dagger extended a few centimeters.

「Do you have the Mana Boost combat skill?」

「…No, it’s my unique skill Maximum Mana.」

I answered honestly.

「Huh? Maximum Mana?」

Melt’s dark green eyes widened.

「Maximum Mana… that’s the unique skill the legendary Archmage Kite had, isn’t it?」

「Yes. Almine verified it with a crystal orb. No mistake.」

「Then how much base mana do you have?」

「…7.3 million mana.」

「Wh… 7.3 million!?」

Melt leaned close.

「Over three thousand times that of a normal human…」

「Exactly. That’s why it pairs so well with the Mana-Eating Dagger. I can channel a huge amount of mana.」

「I see… That also means you could spam high-level offensive magic.」

「That’s impossible.」

I shook my head.

「My other unique skill, Paper User, interferes with normal spellcasting. Casting takes longer, and the power is greatly reduced.」

「I see… Another unique skill?」

「Yes. I have two unique skills.」

「I’ve never heard of a human having two… But you don’t seem like you’re lying.」

Melt scratched his head.

「Now I understand why Kinako recognizes you.」

「Lord Melt!」

A female guild member ran to him.

「We received a message from Lord Gregg. The base is under attack by Armor Golems.」

「What!?」

Melt’s voice grew loud.

「Situation?」

「At first, the number of Armor Golems was small and they could barely hold them off, but now the numbers are overwhelming.」

「Understood. Everyone, move out!」

We canceled the break and ran.

Returning to the circular area with many holes, we saw adventurers fighting over thirty Armor Golems.

「Everyone, take down the Armor Golems!」

When Melt shouted, the guild members around me roared in spirit. Looking around, I saw Albel and the others fighting. Albel swung his longsword but caused no damage.

I gripped the Mana-Eating Dagger and charged at an Armor Golem. Its palm faced Albel.

Planning to fire a light orb?

I focused my mind.

「Magic Barrier Strength 7!」

A metallic paper wall appeared before Albel, deflecting the purple light orb from the Armor Golem.

「Goh… Gogoh…」

The Golem raised its right hand high.

Not on my watch!

I approached from the side, thrusting the Mana-Eating Dagger. The pale blue blade extended long, curving like a hook. The tip entered the Golem’s mouth, shattering the red gem.

「Goh…」

The Golem toppled forward.

「Ah…」

Albel and the others stared blankly at me. None of them were hurt. Ten Armor Golems then simultaneously attacked Melt, swinging long arms and pushing him toward the wall.

Huh? They’re targeting Melt.

Then—

I left Albel and the others and charged the Golems attacking Melt. They hadn’t noticed me approaching from behind.

I focused my mana into the dagger, the tip narrowing like a needle. I thrust it into the small gap between the Golem’s head and neck. With a sound like breaking glass, shards of the red gem fell to the ground.

The other Golems turned their gaze toward me.

「Good job, Yakumo!」

Melt jumped high, using the fallen Golem as a foothold, twisting his hips and kicking with his right foot. The pale blue blade cut the Golem’s mouth, crushing the gem.

Two more Golems attacked Melt as he landed.

「Yakumo, I’ll take one!」

「Understood!」

While replying, I manifested dozens of sheets of paper in front of the right Golem. It lost sight of me and froze.

I focused, moving a single sheet slightly. A small gap appeared, and I thrust the dagger through, shattering the red gem.

Looking around, Melt had defeated the left Golem.

「Lord Melt!」

Greg ran up to him.

「Thanks! Now we can go on the offensive.」

「Yes. Let’s annihilate all the Armor Golems at once!」

「Ooooh!」

The Flame Dragon Guild members shouted in unison.
