Sōzoku Shita Sofu no Ie no Urayama ni Danjon ga Dekimashita - Chapter 66

Takatsugi-kun and Kudou-kun Go to Register as Explorers

The weekend arrived, and I brought Kudou along with me to the local branch of the Explorer Association.

When we told the receptionist that we were here to register as explorers, she handed us application forms and told us to fill them out with the necessary information.

"Hey, what's 'JOB' mean?" Kudou asked me.

Seriously? He doesn’t even know what that means?

What a musclehead.

With a sigh, I answered him.
"JOB means occupation."

"Then I should write ‘high school student,’ right?"

"No, you write ‘student’ in cases like this."

Man, what a pain.

Once we finished filling out the forms, we handed them back to the receptionist.

Then, the woman at the counter said, “The ‘JOB’ you write on the form refers to your profession within the dungeon. When you set foot inside one, a voice will echo in your mind telling you your JOB. But... I take it this is your first time entering a dungeon, correct?”

Couldn’t she have explained that from the start!?

Even someone as brilliant as me ended up embarrassing myself!

Kudou and I followed the staff woman as she led the way.

We were heading into the dungeon to find out what our JOBs were.

Since I’m smart, maybe I’ll be a Sage? A magic user sounds pretty good too.

Both of those are rear-line jobs, like Nakamori-san.

It’d be perfect if we could walk side-by-side in the back line together!

Also, in that light novel I read the other day, there were classes like Hero and Sword Saint.

I’d stand in front of Nakamori-san, slashing down monsters with style, then turn around and flash her a charming smile.

My sparkling white teeth would gleam—ting!

Yeah... that wouldn’t be bad at all.

What kind of JOB will I get, I wonder?

I can’t wait to find out!

Translator’s Note:

  • JOB (ジョブ): In many Japanese RPG-style stories, “JOB” refers to a combat profession or class (like Warrior, Mage, etc.) rather than a real-world job. This confusion is often used for humor when new characters enter a fantasy system for the first time.
