Classmate wa Isekai de Yuusha ni Natta kedo, Ore dake Gendai Nihon ni Okizari ni Narimashita - Chapter 64

Chapter 64 – I Had to Play the Villain, Part 4

『You're here, you monster!』

『We won’t let you get anywhere near the Hero-sama!』

Layering multiple Body Enhancement spells, I tore off a section of the armored plating and leapt up onto the higher level. As soon as I landed, a swarm of hero-suit figures stood in my way.

About... thirty of them, give or take?

Well, that’s still within manageable numbers.

『Prepare yourself, you fiend…!』

The red hero-suit at the front lunged at me with a punch, but before it could land, their arm was completely bound by icy chains generated through Freezing Magic.

And it wasn’t just them. Every single person here—except me—was now bound at the limbs by the same icy chains.

『Tch, a petty trick…! But too bad for you! My power is the flame! This kind of ice—』

“Go ahead and melt it if you want, but don’t come crying later, alright?”

『Hah?』

The red-suited hero began emitting flames from their wrists and ankles, melting the chains of ice. But just as they did, a slime-like liquid—secretly embedded into the chains during their creation—burst forth and engulfed the entire suit.

『The hell is this!?』

They tried blasting it off with fire, flailing their arms wildly to shake it loose, but the more they struggled, the more the slime clung, tightening its grip.

『D…damn it…』

Exhausted from both the enhanced restraint and their own struggling, the red-suited figure finally collapsed and lost consciousness.

Seeing that, the rest of the hero-suit group gave up resisting.

“Phew.”

I lightly vaulted over the restrained crowd and activated a combination of Tracking & Detection Magic, Appraisal, and intel I had pried from the suits' occupants. I synced it with reconnaissance data from a water-magic-generated exploration drone.

(No enemies in the immediate area. The "Hero-sama" command room is just above here.)

I activated Body Enhancement (Medium), leapt up the wall to the ceiling, and used Water Magic to generate a high-pressure water cutter, carving a large hole to climb through.

“Ah crap, missed the mark.”

Originally, I planned to sneak directly into the command center where the Hero supposedly was. But I misjudged the positioning and ended up right in front of the main door instead.

(Appraisal.)

Target: Door
Condition: Good
Note: Reinforced with the Skills Blacksmith's Art and Design, making it resistant to explosives and magical attacks.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen Skills mentioned outside of just their level.
And all of the hero-suits kept repeating that line—“the sacred Hero returned from another world.”

...Don’t tell me. The one pulling all the strings is actually someone who did come back from another world?

“Well, either way—I won’t get answers without a face-to-face.”

With a deep breath, I activated Body Enhancement, Body Enhancement (Medium), and just to be safe, Magic Counter as well—then kicked the thick door straight off its hinges.

A rush of cold air poured out from the room.

Keeping Tracking & Detection Magic active to watch for any ambushes, I stepped inside.

The hallway beyond—the path to the Hero’s alleged command center—was dimly lit and starkly minimalist.

“...What the hell is this place?”

Cautiously moving forward, I eventually reached a massive central chamber.

In the middle stood a pedestal, surrounded by six floating digital screens.

The “Hero-sama” worshipped by these suits was nowhere to be seen.

…Come on, after all this buildup, don’t tell me “it was all for nothing.” That’d just be cruel.

Muttering a silent prayer, I used Freezing Magic to forge a floating ice knife and paired it with a Water Magic drone outfitted with a miniature water cutter, slowly approaching the pedestal.

“Huh?”

The pedestal suddenly split in two—then from its core emerged a set of armor parts, floating independently in midair. They looked just like the hero costumes from those Sunday morning superhero shows I watched as a kid.

『So it’s you... The one who came to destroy the stage for my ideal world.』

And then finally, from the center appeared a boy clad in a black robe.

“Just to be sure—are you the ‘Hero-sama’ they were talking about?”

『There’s no point hiding it now. Yes, I am both the Commander of the Super Rescue Squadron and the Hero. And—』

The floating armor parts flew into the robe, clicking and clanking as they connected into place.

Finally, the helmet snapped onto his head. Shedding his robe, the now-fully armored boy launched straight at me.

『—I’m the one who will eliminate you, the invader trying to destroy our paradise!』

“Whoa there—”

The sword in his hand swung downward, and I reflexively generated a Freezing Magic shield to block it.

(Appraisal... Damn, countermeasures in place.)

If I could’ve used Appraisal to find a weakness in that brief moment, I’d have taken it—but it was already sealed off.
That meant this wouldn’t end until one of us was utterly defeated.

(Freezing Magic!)

I summoned vines of ice from the floor to tangle around his legs, aiming to restrict his movement and create distance.

But—

『Rrraaaaaarghhhhhh!!』
“You’ve gotta be kidding me…!?”

With raw strength alone, the Hero burst free of the restraints and came charging again.

(Body Enhancement (Medium)!)

Barely dodging in time, I used the moment to appraise the now-broken ice restraints.

Target: Special Ice Restraints
Condition: Damaged
Note: Sliced by a sword imbued with the Skill Power to Sever All Things, created via Blacksmith's Art and Design. The restraints’ durability has deteriorated, and the slime inside has reverted to plain water.

So that sword of his is Skill-enhanced too, huh?

“Hey, just now—you said something about ‘paradise.’ What did you mean by that?”

『…Tch.』

Even through the armor, I could tell his expression twisted.

『It means exactly what I said! A paradise where failures like me—no, like us—can still become heroes! That’s what this base represents!』

As he shouted, the toy-like sword in his hand erupted in flames.

The heat was intense—so much so that the room’s metallic walls, ceiling, and floor began to warp and melt.

『I will never forgive you for destroying it! Disappear from here—vanish completelyyyyyyyy!!』

He roared, enlarging the flame blade even further, then brought it crashing down with all his rage.

(Water Magic!)

In response, I summoned a massive wall of water, large enough to divide the entire command room.

And in that moment, flame and water collided—and the room was engulfed in a thick cloud of steam.

Translator’s Notes:

  • ヒーロースーツ (Hero-suit): A catch-all for Sentai-style suits. I chose to keep it as “hero-suit” since the characters use it in a self-styled way.

  • 身体強化 (Body Enhancement): Enhancement magic that boosts physical ability. Tiered versions like (Medium) imply stronger effects.

  • 勇者様 (Hero-sama): Reverential term used for the supposed leader of the hero suits. Preserved with the honorific for tone.

  • 鑑定 (Appraisal): A skill used for inspecting objects or enemy traits, common in RPG-style fantasy.

  • 設計 (Design) / 鍛冶技巧 (Blacksmith's Art): Crafting skills responsible for creating advanced weaponry and materials.
