Chanting “Appraise,” Tenma swung his sword, cutting down the overgrown weeds in his path. He was astounded by the sharpness of the Magic Iron Sword.

Each time he swung, the grass was cleanly severed, shortening without resistance. It didn’t even feel like he was cutting through anything—more like slicing air.

“Someone once said, ‘If it cuts too well, it feels unsettling.’ Turns out that’s true,” he muttered.

As he walked, he glanced up at the sky. The sun was dipping toward the left.

“Feels like around 3 PM in Japan. Time to wrap this up,” he murmured and quickened his pace.

The scent of the breeze shifted. A clanging of metal reached his ears.

Tenma immediately scanned his surroundings. About 50 meters ahead, he spotted a horse-drawn wagon. Around it, people were engaged in combat. Among the grass, green heads bobbed in and out of view.

Crouching low, Tenma moved silently to avoid detection. When he got within 10 meters, he quietly chanted:

“Appraise.”

Two humans—both adventurers.
The enemies were seven goblins.
There was also one horse, and a four-wheeled, canvas-covered wagon — Status: Normal.

Unfortunately, Appraise only gave basic information: species and occupation.

Tenma hesitated.

Should I help? And if I do… do I use weapons? Or magic?

After a moment of internal debate, he made up his mind. He circled around behind the goblin on the far right.

“I’ll assist!” he shouted, bursting out of the grass and attacking from behind.

He cut the goblin down with a diagonal slash. Then, in one smooth motion, he dispatched three more goblins who were momentarily confused by his sudden appearance. Spinning around, he slashed across the torso of another goblin charging toward him.

He glanced around quickly. The last goblin was struck down by the swordsman.

Tenma stared in awe at the Magic Iron Sword in his hand. Its incredible sharpness had overwhelmed the enemy with little effort on his part. It wasn’t his swordsmanship that had won—it was the weapon’s quality. He looked down at the blade in quiet amazement.

At that moment, a well-built young man called out to him
